02079461891 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02079461891 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance scam number frequently calling about alleged car accidents that never occurred. Callers hang up when challenged or asked for details, often using automated or prerecorded messages, and sometimes employ rude or evasive behaviour. Despite many recipients being registered on the Telephone Preference Service, calls continue unabated. Attempts to identify a legitimate company behind the number prove futile, with calls often traced to central London but resulting in “number not recognised” responses. Users report difficulties blocking the calls on landlines, though mobile blocking is possible. The calls are widely suspected as part of fraudulent claim-fishing operations or unscrupulous solicitors. It is strongly advised to ignore, avoid engagement, and block the number where possible.

Over the past week, I've been receiving calls from this number at our home nearly five times a day. They typically ring about four times before hanging up, never allowing enough time to leave a voicemail. I tried to check who it was by dialling 1471, and it turned out to be a number linked to central London. However, when I attempted to call it back, a message informed me that "this number is not recognised." It seems one can block such numbers on a mobile device, yet somehow it's a different story for landlines. It's rather puzzling why the frequency of these calls has ramped up and how they manage to bypass blocking mechanisms.

Pearl Help Professional called me asking if I’d been in any accidents in the last five years that weren’t my fault. I said no! Then she asked me to confirm if I’d been in an accident. I told her I couldn’t confirm since I’m under 18. She just said “Alright” and hung up. I'm starting to think maybe Comparethemarket[###] is sharing people’s info. I’ve used my number for a few family insurance policies. Best to just block them and avoid giving your number to random sites.

So today I got a call saying I’d had an accident! Felt a bit cheeky and answered in the poshest voice I could manage, like “Oh, how lovely you called! But which accident are we talking about? The one with the Rolls Royce or the Ferrari?” They just slammed the phone down. Bloody cowards!

This particular number keeps ringing me time and again. I tend to ignore the calls and instead, I research the number each time. I've managed to block it on my mobile, but unfortunately, I can't seem to do the same on my landline. Honestly, what’s the point of the Telephone Preference Service if it doesn’t actually help? It's rather frustrating!

What occurs when you engage with a so-called "Windows" technical assistance scam? You might find yourself embroiled in a vexatious situation, as these fraudsters often employ various tactics to extract personal information or even payment from unsuspecting victims. It’s a rather precarious scenario, leading many to question the motivations behind such deceitful antics. If you're curious, there's a fascinating article over at Wired that delves into the intricacies of this issue. Have a look if you fancy!

I've been receiving an increasing number of dodgy calls from what are labelled as OFCOM Drama Numbers. These are basically the British equivalent of the American 555 area code, which means they're not legitimate. Any business employing these numbers is flouting the law and can't be trusted at all. It's definitely worth having a look at this blog for more details on the issue: http://rsmck.co.uk/blog/nuisance-calls-no-drama/
