Got a call from someone claiming to be Starling bank, asking me to approve a payment via my banking app. They wanted to know my account balance and asked me to verify my address too. Just a heads up, Starling never gives you a ring out of the blue - so if that happens, just end the call straight away. Then look up their number on the official website and ring them up to check if it was legit. If you’re suspicious, block your card and report the fraud. Their number was nearly right, but one digit was off. Always listen to your instincts!

Just got a call from someone claiming to be Starling after I received a payment request in my app. They wanted me to verify my bank info and address, which felt off. FYI, Starling doesn't call customers out of the blue. If you get a call like this, just hang up. Always ring their official number from their website to check if it was legit. Also, better to cancel your card if you’re suspicious. Always listen to your instincts!

Whenever someone says they're from your bank, just hang up straight away. Then ring your bank back using the number printed on the card to make sure it's legit. Loads of scammers use fake bank numbers to trick folks, so watch out. If you do get one of these dodgy calls, there’s a post down below explaining how to report it. Don’t just brush off calls saying they're from your bank - always double-check.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Starling, said they spotted a dodgy transaction on my account. Sounded so legit, like they actually knew my card had been nicked. They told me to block all payments right away... then another person rang, asked me to confirm a code to stop any more charges. Total rubbish, but since I’d just had my wallet swiped, I was proper on edge and ended up getting scammed big time. They emptied out my account, including my Christmas bonus. Proper nasty lot. If you get a call like that, just put the phone down immediately.

Someone recently stole my card and I honestly thought their story was legit. They told me to cancel my payments and claimed to be from Starling, even knew my home address and phone number. But in the end, they emptied our current account completely. I feel absolute rubbish and like my privacy’s been totally invaded. Really hoping we can get the money back. Has anyone else had their cash nicked by these scumbags?!

Have you managed to recover it? I lost £4000 because of a call I got last night and I feel completely daft. My card was stolen recently so I genuinely thought it was Starling, since the caller seemed to know all the details. Looking back, their tone wasn't very convincing or professional though. My husband and I are both feeling really silly about the whole thing. Starling are trying to help now, but honestly, I don’t know how we’ll cope if we don’t get that money back.

Got tricked by a phony Starling Bank scam, ended up losing all my money. It started out when I saw a suspicious John Lewis charge I needed to reject. Proper clever they were.

Please refrain from responding. There are some unscrupulous individuals posing as representatives of Starling, attempting to swindle unsuspecting folk out of their hard-earned cash. It’s quite pitiful how some people choose to lead their lives, isn't it? :)

Got a call from some scumbags claiming I owed 1700 to John Lewis. When I said no thanks, they kept ringing back. Eventually, I caught on and told the bloke his number was a mistake! 😂

I received a call purporting to be from Starling Bank, inquiring about a payment linked to John Lewis. They had my address and name, which seemed a bit dodgy. The caller urged me to cancel the payment and then mentioned another transaction related to eBay shortly thereafter. I was asked to reject that one too, which set off alarm bells for me. When I mentioned that their phone number had been flagged online for fraudulent activity, they suddenly stopped responding. Quite the suspicious encounter, I must say!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Starling bank, checking on a payment made to John Lewis. They already had my name and address, which seemed odd. Then they said there was another charge from Ebay that I should also cancel. That came through right after. They kept pushing me to say no to the payments, but it felt off. When I mentioned their number was flagged online for scams, I just stopped replying.

0207 940 4450 - A call supposedly from Starling Bank. It's curious how it almost mirrors their actual number, differing by just a singular digit. The individual on the other end claimed to represent Starling, concerning a failed payment to John Lewis. They urged me to access my banking app right away, where I apparently would see a significant attempted transaction with John Lewis. Their spiel continued, insisting I should cancel it... (clearly they'd fabricated the transaction, as it wasn't actually processing) and then they prompted me to transfer funds from my Savings Spaces to my current account, suggesting it was necessary due to a supposed security breach. I was having none of it and labelled it as a scam. At that point, they had the audacity to address me by name, recite my home address, and even threatened to send someone around wielding a baseball bat. I promptly hung up and reported the incident to Action Fraud.

Scam alert!
I got an alert on my phone about a suspicious purchase on my account from John Lewis for a whopping £1485. I promptly declined this transaction, only to be followed up with a call from someone purporting to be from my bank’s Fraud Department. Unfortunately, the signal was terrible, and the call disconnected. I quickly rang my bank, and they confirmed it was likely a spoofed number. There’s definitely a term for these crooks, but it’s best left unsaid here! 🤬🤬🤬
I've had to cancel my card now. What a flipping nuisance!
Stay vigilant, folks; these scammers can be really convincing!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Starling Bank, saying there was an attempt to withdraw almost £2,000 from my John Lewis account. When they asked for my balance and then tried to quiz me with "security" questions, I refused to answer. After that, they told me I’d failed security and needed to email them sensitive info to get my account back. I told them I work with the police, and they just laughed it off, saying they weren’t bothered. Absolutely awful behaviour. I’ve reported this to Starling straight away.

Absolute muppets still going about. Tried to fool me with a supposed £2,000 payment from “John Lewis,” pretending to be from Starling bank. They asked loads of questions about me, like my name and address. I declined the deal and fibbed about my bank balance. The caller had a northern accent, maybe Manchester? Then started threatening me, saying they'd come round and put an axe in my head. Really hope someone catches these clowns and puts a stop to their nasty antics once and for all.

Someone claiming to be from Starling Bank called me. They already had loads of my info and nearly spent nearly £2000 at John Lewis using my card. Good job I realised what was going on quick, because as soon as I stopped them, they just ended the call. If you ever get this, make sure you cancel your card straight away, they’ll come back for more!
