Got a call from someone claiming to be Starling bank, asking me to approve a payment via my banking app. They wanted to know my account balance and asked me to verify my address too. Just a heads up, Starling never gives you a ring out of the blue - so if that happens, just end the call straight away. Then look up their number on the official website and ring them up to check if it was legit. If you’re suspicious, block your card and report the fraud. Their number was nearly right, but one digit was off. Always listen to your instincts!

I received a dodgy payment request via my app from someone posing as Starling. They had the audacity to ask me to verify my banking information and home address! Just a heads up, Starling will never ring you up out of the blue-if you get a call claiming to be from them, hang up straightaway. Instead, reach out to their customer service using the number on their official site to check if they actually tried to get in touch. Also, don’t hesitate to block your card if anything seems amiss. Always follow your instincts!

Whenever someone says they're from your bank, just hang up straight away. Then ring your bank back using the number printed on the card to make sure it's legit. Loads of scammers use fake bank numbers to trick folks, so watch out. If you do get one of these dodgy calls, there’s a post down below explaining how to report it. Don’t just brush off calls saying they're from your bank - always double-check.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Starling, said they spotted a dodgy transaction on my account. Sounded so legit, like they actually knew my card had been nicked. They told me to block all payments right away... then another person rang, asked me to confirm a code to stop any more charges. Total rubbish, but since I’d just had my wallet swiped, I was proper on edge and ended up getting scammed big time. They emptied out my account, including my Christmas bonus. Proper nasty lot. If you get a call like that, just put the phone down immediately.

Recently, I had my bank card pinched, and I fell for the ruse. They claimed to be from Starling and even had my address and mobile number. In the end, they managed to empty our current account. I can't shake the feeling of being utterly foolish and violated. Fingers crossed we'll see our money again. Has anyone else been stung by these scoundrels?

Have you managed to retrieve it? I've unfortunately lost £4000 after they called me last night - I can’t believe how foolish I was. After my card was nicked, I genuinely thought it was Starling reaching out since they had all the details. Looking back, their professionalism was rather questionable. My partner and I feel utterly ridiculous. Starling has been supportive now, but we're really anxious about making ends meet if we can't recover the funds.

Please refrain from responding. There are some unscrupulous individuals posing as representatives of Starling, attempting to swindle unsuspecting folk out of their hard-earned cash. It’s quite pitiful how some people choose to lead their lives, isn't it? :)

Right, what a bunch of ne'er-do-wells! They pulled the same stunt on me, trying to swipe £1,700 from John Lewis. The cheeky blighter called me up after they were turned down, and it took a moment for the penny to drop. I had to inform him that he’d dialled the wrong number! Absolutely ridiculous! 🤣

I received a call purporting to be from Starling Bank, inquiring about a payment linked to John Lewis. They had my address and name, which seemed a bit dodgy. The caller urged me to cancel the payment and then mentioned another transaction related to eBay shortly thereafter. I was asked to reject that one too, which set off alarm bells for me. When I mentioned that their phone number had been flagged online for fraudulent activity, they suddenly stopped responding. Quite the suspicious encounter, I must say!

Received a peculiar call claiming to be from Starling Bank, inquiring about a payment regarding John Lewis. They had my name and address, which was a bit unsettling. The caller requested that I reject this payment and shortly after mentioned a second one linked to eBay. That raised even more red flags for me. When I became suspicious and mentioned I'd seen their number flagged online for scams, they abruptly went quiet. Quite the dodgy situation, I'd say!

0207 940 4450 - A call supposedly from Starling Bank. It's curious how it almost mirrors their actual number, differing by just a singular digit. The individual on the other end claimed to represent Starling, concerning a failed payment to John Lewis. They urged me to access my banking app right away, where I apparently would see a significant attempted transaction with John Lewis. Their spiel continued, insisting I should cancel it... (clearly they'd fabricated the transaction, as it wasn't actually processing) and then they prompted me to transfer funds from my Savings Spaces to my current account, suggesting it was necessary due to a supposed security breach. I was having none of it and labelled it as a scam. At that point, they had the audacity to address me by name, recite my home address, and even threatened to send someone around wielding a baseball bat. I promptly hung up and reported the incident to Action Fraud.

Ah, so it’s not coming from Manchester, is it? Maybe Halifax instead? Regardless of your location, you might want to find somewhere else to be. Stay vigilant and perhaps be a tad wary, as you might just find yourself fading into the background soon enough.

Scam alert!
I got an alert on my phone about a suspicious purchase on my account from John Lewis for a whopping £1485. I promptly declined this transaction, only to be followed up with a call from someone purporting to be from my bank’s Fraud Department. Unfortunately, the signal was terrible, and the call disconnected. I quickly rang my bank, and they confirmed it was likely a spoofed number. There’s definitely a term for these crooks, but it’s best left unsaid here! 🤬🤬🤬
I've had to cancel my card now. What a flipping nuisance!
Stay vigilant, folks; these scammers can be really convincing!

I received a phone call under the guise of being from Starling Bank, claiming there was an attempt to siphon nearly £2,000 out of my account while I was shopping at John Lewis. When I declined to respond to their so-called “security” queries after they requested my account balance, they suddenly informed me that I had failed their security checks. To my shock, they then asked me to send over an email featuring pictures of intimate areas to restore access to my account! When I mentioned that I was a police officer, their response was laced with sarcasm, suggesting they were not intimidated by my position. Absolutely appalling behaviour! I've promptly reported this to Starling.

It seems these absolute buffoons are still roaming free. They tried to siphon off £2,000 using the name of John Lewis. Pretended to be from Starling Bank and bombarded me with inquiries about my name and address. After I turned down the transaction, they wanted to know my account balance - which I didn’t reveal truthfully. Then, with a thick Northern accent, likely from Manchester, this bloke started menacing me, even threatening to show up and do me in with an axe. I really hope someone sorts them out and puts a stop to their vile antics once and for all.

It seems that an individual has managed to trace their I.P. address and has been keeping a close eye on their activities for a considerable while... unbeknownst to them, they’re edging closer to a rather unfortunate fate that will remove them from the records entirely.

Impersonating Starling Bank, they had all my personal information and attempted to make a purchase of nearly £2,000 at John Lewis using my card. Thankfully, I realised just in time and gave them a fright, causing them to end the call. If you find yourself in a similar situation, be sure to cancel your card right away!
