I signed up just to check some financial details, but these calls have been relentless for months now. I've asked them to remove me from their list but they keep ignoring it. Sounds like the calls are coming from the Philippines. I seriously doubt they're genuine. It's so annoying! This kind of persistent harassment should be against the law.

Someone called claiming to be from Starling Bank after I turned down a £1,962 charge from John Lewis. They asked me about my balance, and when I said it was £8 and denied having any overdrafts, they just hung up. I checked with Starling myself, and they said it definitely wasn’t them. I’ve now cancelled my card and requested a replacement. Watch out for scams like this!

This number called me and left a message claiming I’d been in contact with someone with the Omicron Covid variant. They sent me a link that looked just like the NHS site and asked for my personal info along with my Starling bank details to cover a 99p fee for postage of a covid test kit. Luckily, I realised it was a scam and cancelled my bank card pretty sharpish. A couple of days later, the same number 02079204450 rang back asking for my savings balance, pretending to be from Starling Bank, which was obviously a lie.

So I got a call and a voicemail from this number saying I’d been in touch with someone who had the Omicron Covid variant. They sent me a link that looked just like the NHS site, and I ended up putting in my personal info along with my Starling bank details to pay 99p for a Covid test postage fee. Luckily, I caught on it was a scam and cancelled my bank card straight away. Then, about two days later, the same number 02079204450 rang me again asking how much money I had saved, claiming they were from Starling bank, which was completely false.

Someone phoned me claiming to be from Starling, saying there was a transaction at John Lewis that I needed to reject. They then started asking me about other banks and my credit cards. When I questioned why they needed that info, the call just got cut off. I ended up cancelling my card and rejecting the John Lewis payment.

Somebody rang me saying they were from Starling Bank, then started asking about a payment for John Lewis. Even after I told them straight up to stop calling, they kept ringing. It’s pretty clear to me it was a scam. I’ve blocked their number now, but they’re still trying to get through from unknown numbers too.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Starling Bank’s fraud team, about a John Lewis transaction. They told me to transfer money from my Spaces account to main account and then tried to get an online payment code from me. Starling Bank never rings customers like that. Totally a scam call, so just hang up and ring 159 instead.

Someone called claiming to be from Starling bank, but they already had my name, phone number, and card info. They tried to make a payment on my card through John Lewis, but I spotted it and blocked it straight away on the app. After that, they kept trying to get more details from me. Honestly, best thing to do is cut off contact with them immediately and cancel your card. You can easily order a replacement right through the app. Don’t risk it!

Got a notification from Starling about a John Lewis payment attempt. I blocked it, but the person kept pushing for more details and somehow ended up altering the name on one of my Spaces accounts. Definitely reported this sketchy behaviour!

Got a dodgy call pretending to be from Starling Bank, saying there was some dodgy activity using my card around London for a John Lewis purchase. Then they started asking for personal bank details. When I refused, they just hung up on me. I've blocked the number but it’s still called me like 8 times since. Best to just block and ignore, don’t get drawn in.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Starling, asking me to confirm a payment to John Lewis. The line was really poor and just suddenly dropped. Right after, I saw a notification in my Starling app for a payment around £750 that I didn’t authorise, so I declined it. After that, they kept ringing me back a few times, from the same number and also once from a hidden number.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Starling bank, saying they’d stopped a purchase at John Lewis. They asked me to open the app and verify some info to confirm my identity. I ended the call, then saw a notification from Starling about the same John Lewis transaction needing my approval. I rejected it and immediately blocked and cancelled my card. Not long after, the same person rang back, insisting I open the app again to confirm details. I told him I’d already declined the transaction and cancelled my card. He suddenly got aggressive, told me to get lost, and then hung up.

Someone rang me three times in quick succession claiming to be from Starling Bank, which is where I actually have my account. They said there was suspicious activity happening in London - a fraudulent transaction - and told me they’d stopped it because I’m usually in Ipswich. They asked if I wanted to accept or reject the transaction, so I quickly rejected it through my app. Then they started asking when I expect my next payment and wanted me to confirm my account balance. I keep my balance pretty low anyway, but I could hear what sounded like a car door slamming in the background. I rang Starling’s official customer service to check, and they told me they hardly ever phone customers directly, so they suspected it was a phishing attempt. I double-checked the number they gave me, and it was off by one digit - Starling’s real number is 0207 930 4450. Be cautious! I’ve cancelled my card and requested a replacement just in case.
