I engaged in a lengthy chat that stretched on for half an hour, during which they collected my email addresses and attempted to persuade me to update my O2 and Virgin Media passwords in order to claim a discount - clearly aiming for access to my accounts. At first, everything felt quite authentic, and it took me roughly 25 minutes before I began to feel that something was amiss. They even put me through to their so-called supervisors and managers, who really gave off the impression of being on the up and up. Upon further digging into the number, I discovered a number of others who have reported similar dubious calls from these con artists (allegedly operating out of India) just this month.

Someone rang me on this number, but I couldn’t make out what they were saying because she spoke really fast and had a thick accent. Said she was calling on behalf of O2. Told me I was a loyal customer and was eligible for a 40% discount. Ended the call right there - I’ve never even been with O2. Definitely a scam.

They called me but I didn’t answer, and no voicemail was left either. If you don’t recognise the number and aren’t expecting anyone, most likely it’s just some sort of spam.

Got like 5 calls in the past quarter hour, all from someone named Jessica at 02. I tried talking to her but then said I don’t understand English. She’s getting proper annoyed and keeps saying she can offer me a discount. She’s super rude, yet she keeps ringing me again and again. And the funny thing is, I’m not even an 02 customer!

I've had my number on the TPS list for about 20 years, yet these sorts of calls keep getting through. Over the last few weeks, the same number has rung me repeatedly, saying they're from O2 and sometimes from Currys as well.
