I got a call from this number where the person said they were from HMRC and told me I was about to be arrested for tax evasion. I looked up the number and couldn’t find anything on it. I told the caller this, and they said they’d ring me back from their main number. They did ring back from 03001232040, which after checking seems to be a legit HMRC contact. But they told me HMRC always send you letters first, and how would they even have my phone number? I didn’t give them any info. Then they claimed Barbican Police would get in touch within 30 minutes to organise my arrest.
