I attempted to provide details to one chap (who had quite the accent from the Far East) in hopes of getting my number removed from their list, but alas, that was a futile effort. In my most recent interaction, I assertively mentioned that I had already shared the information they sought. To my astonishment, the cheeky bloke replied, “If you’ve done that, then why am I bothering you?” and promptly hung up! What’s the best course of action in situations like this?

Upon answering, I was met with confusion as they simply inquired if I was the person they were trying to reach. To that, I must say, whoever you are, a bit of training wouldn't go amiss in several key areas: etiquette, proper introductions, and the purpose of your call, to name a few. I sincerely hope you come across my remarks, you "utter nincompoop," "scoundrel," and "rascal." While these may not quite qualify as colourful language, they're certainly fitting remarks for those who can't be bothered to clarify who they are or why they're calling. I received a call today and decided to flip the script a bit. Instead of listening to their spiel, I cheekily asked if they’d be interested in purchasing something I was offering. After getting them on board, I launched into reading off items from the Argos catalogue, asking them to confirm any that caught their fancy. Believe it or not, my personal best stands at 137 items before they hung up on me! If reading aloud isn’t quite your thing, you could always tune into a QVC channel and let the phone bask in the speaker’s sound. I also enjoy throwing in an enthusiastic Nigerian accent, expressing my gratitude for their call, and then politely requesting their bank details, claiming I need to deposit a whopping $3,000,000 that my diplomat wife was supposedly granted by the US Embassy! Quite the amusing tactic, I must say!
