I got scammed by a bloke and a woman who both sounded Indian. They tricked me, honestly.

I got a call from a woman who sounded Indian, claiming there was an issue with my internet. I kept grilling her with questions, and she suddenly cut me off. Not long after, she phoned again and just started shouting a load of horrible insults at me.

Got a call again from someone saying there’s an issue with my internet (i was actually online then). I just told her, “you seem alright but honestly, how do you sleep at night?” Of course, she hung up pretty quick - no shock there!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who claimed to be from BT. She said there was a problem with our router and needed remote access to our computer to fix it. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

This was some sort of internet scam, I think. When I told them I wasn’t buying it, they got quite aggressive on the call.

I got a call from a woman claiming to be from my internet company’s tech support. I asked her which provider she was talking about, and when she got it wrong, she just hung up on me.

Definitely a dodgy call, they just wanna get into your internet info to nick your accounts. Best move is to put the phone down and ignore it until they give up. Might as well let them take up your time since they’re just wasting yours.

Anyone know if 02077777771 is legit? I got a call from an Asian lady at like 8 in the morning on a bank holiday, saying there was a problem with my internet. Honestly, these calls are such a nuisance.

6:04 AM on a bank holiday, of all times! Quite curious, really. This number keeps calling me throughout the week during daylight hours, but I’ve never received a call at this ungodly hour. Must be some sort of scam, likely from those TalkTalk tech scammers. Appreciate the heads up!

Got two calls from this number today, really frustrating!

Got a call from someone in India claiming to be from the Windows Security Centre. They told me my Windows unique ID was apparently shared with four other people, saying my computer got hacked and my operating system would be shut down soon. At first, I figured this was the usual zfsendtotarget clsid scam I wrote about back in 2010. Turns out, they’ve stepped up their game with a quicker trick nowadays. The call went like this: “Sorry, sorry, I meant pounds, not dollars.” What a relief!

I got two calls from this number within like 3 hours. My call blocker picked them up both times and since they didn’t answer the call challenge, I figured it was just a nuisance. So I went ahead and blocked them for good.

So the day after I had an internet update, I got a call claiming there was an issue. I actually let them access my computer, which in hindsight was daft, and I got proper mixed up with what they were saying. I told them to call later when someone else was around to help. I called my provider afterwards and they said it was a scam. Since then, I’ve put extra security on my account. She did ring again, and I wasn’t exactly polite telling her off. Not very lady-like, but honestly, that’s how I felt.

My mum and dad have been hassled by these fraudsters three times just today. It's really upsetting for them.

Got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent claiming he was from BT, saying he needed to explain some “security updates”. When I challenged him to share my personal info, he actually had my name, address and phone number right. He mentioned the BT Tower in London but messed up saying “Maple”. It’s proper worrying because some folks might fall for this. Definitely don’t give out your details. Always ring your internet provider yourself if you’re unsure about anything.

They phoned me up and started chatting about online safety stuff, which was odd coz I was expecting something completely different. They never mentioned anything about the local accent, just kept focusing on internet security. Bit strange, but at least it wasn't a scam call or trying to sell something.
