The caller was a woman who spoke with a pronounced Eastern European accent, and she had the audacity to ask for me by name. When I inquired about her identity, she claimed to be representing a charity, but when I pressed for the name of the organisation, she dodged the question. I suggested that perhaps I could take a message, but she insisted it was confidential and that she needed to speak with Mr David Austen instead. As I pressed her once more for the charity's name, her responses became increasingly vague.
