Got a strange call from a quite jittery young woman. She was polite enough but kept asking to speak with someone in my accounts team. She was stumbling over her words, trying to chat about foreign currency and some rival business of mine - which actually doesn’t exist. I guess she picked up on my sceptical tone, said sorry and quickly ended the call.

When I asked if he had the right email, he said he wasn’t at his desk. I offered to give him the correct email just to be sure, and he snapped back, ‘I told you I’ve got your email address!’ Proper rude bloke!

Got a really persistent caller insisting on speaking to our accounts team about some invoice. Wouldn't give any details and once connected, they just launched into a sales spiel about financial stuff and overseas payments. How can anyone trust a business that’s obviously not being honest? There’s loads of these sketchy firms out there.

02077 400005 - Got a call from a guy named William who said he was with some Forex company. He was asking for accounts, but he was really polite and explained why he was calling. When I told him I wasn’t interested, he just said thanks for my time and goodbye. No hassle this time (what a relief!). Normally these calls are such a nuisance and pointless for both sides, but he was decent and not aggressive.

I got a missed call and when I checked the voicemail it was just 2 minutes of hold music. If you're going to bother leaving a message, could it be a proper one? Now I’ve saved the number as "block". A quick Google search shows it’s some sketchy finance insurance outfit.

I had a missed call recently, and to my surprise, I was treated to a two-minute serenade of hold music in the voicemail! Honestly, if you’re going to bother leaving a message, at least make it worthwhile. As it stands, I’ve had to label their number as "spam." A quick Google search reveals they’re some rather shifty financial insurance firm. Quite the nuisance, I must say!

These lot just tell you fibs. They say they're after an invoice payment just to get past the receptionist and talk to the accounts department. Honestly, why would you trust any firm that starts off with a lie right from the get go when it comes to your cash?

I received a phone call from someone looking to chat with our accounts team. I requested his number to arrange a call back, but he insisted he’d ring again later. The tone of his voice raised my suspicions, so I decided to do a quick search on Google, and lo and behold, I stumbled upon a flurry of concerning remarks! I've gone ahead and blocked the number.

A complete numpty just phoned in wanting to discuss 'payments' and insisted on being transferred to accounts payable. When I tried to clarify his purpose, he just started muttering ungraciously. Honestly, I wouldn't put it past this lot to be dodgy. If they are a legitimate outfit, they've certainly got the manners of a gnat. Best to end the call right there!

Some bloke who said his name was Seb Jones rang our company from CSL - proper posh, full of himself kinda voice! He asked for our FD, claiming he was 'meant to ring last week but Brexit stuff got in the way' haha. Kept pushing me to give him our FD’s name and email, boasting he’s from the top 8% of financial analysis firms and that he wanted to help us make 'loads of cash' - awful at sales, honestly, think he’d have better luck flogging broadband in a mall!

When I asked for a contact or invoice number, he fumbled and just made up some story about his boss usually ringing and him logging into his boss’s email to find stuff out. He kept pushing that his method for dealing with foreign currency was top notch. They’ve called several times and every time I said no. Our IT team will be blocking the number any minute now.

Just got a call from someone saying they were HPR - when I picked up, they wouldn’t explain what the call was regarding and kept insisting on speaking to a colleague by name, saying she had some heading proposals she was working on and could only discuss it with him.

This woman called wanting to talk to the accounts dept. When I asked the reason, she mentioned something about the company's treasury. I then asked if it was regarding international transactions, but she said no. I told her I handle accounts and asked how I could assist, but she just ended the call straight away.

They pretend they haven’t called me at all, then have the nerve to ask who I supposedly spoke to from their side, even though I can name them and what the call was about before they say a word. Somebody from the finance dept called me wanting to chat about their infrastructure, but wouldn’t confirm what the call was really about. They said it wasn’t a sales call, a survey, or anything to do with an existing account, and weren’t from a government agency either. They kept pushing that our company needed to discuss financial laws with them. The caller was quite pushy and rude, kept grilling me with questions, and told me they’d keep calling even after I gave them an email to reach the team. Proper annoying!

When I probed for more information, he snapped and said he wasn’t prepared to share anything with "a receptionist". I held my ground, and he ended the call in a huff. Not long after, another caller, “Aron” (with a slightly different inflection), rang in from 02039530237, wanting to discuss an international money transfer with our accounts department. Strangely enough, this conversation mirrored the previous one with "Aaron" almost word for word. Moments later, I received a call from 01212704564, a number notorious for being connected to loan scamming, and they hung up the second I picked up. Could there be a connection among these calls? It certainly seems likely.
