Got a call from someone claiming to be doing a survey for BDRC about how Covid impacted businesses. The initial questions were pretty general and didn’t ask for any personal info. But then they suddenly asked which bank I use for my credit cards. I couldn’t see how that was relevant to the whole Covid topic. When I said I wasn’t comfortable with that, they ended the survey. The person sounded friendly, but it all felt a bit dodgy, like they might’ve been hunting for more personal details or it was actually some marketing scheme.

I received a call from someone claiming they were conducting a survey about recent interactions with Santander Bank. The thing is, I hadn’t reached out to them at all. When they started asking questions, I firmly stated that due to data protection regulations, I don't discuss any personal matters over the phone, and that was the end of it. I have to give credit where it's due; the woman on the line was quite professional in her approach, which I appreciated, but I stood my ground and she eventually ended the call.

Classic market research firm. I took part in a survey about how my business has been coping during the pandemic. They didn’t ask anything too personal, mostly general stuff, and any money questions could easily be checked on Companies House. I own a small media business so I’m pretty used to getting calls like this. Just wanted to check whose number it was and if calling it would lead anywhere, but it just goes to a voicemail. Seems legit to me.

Got a call from a lady speaking with a French accent, asking if I had time to do a quick survey about business banking at Nat West. It all sounded legit enough. She asked straightforward stuff, like how satisfied I was from 'Extremely Happy' to 'Very Unhappy'. The sort of usual questions for these surveys. I was cautious though, and if she’d asked for any personal info, I probably would’ve ended the call. Only lasted a few minutes anyway.

They started with questions about climate stuff but then asked really personal things like if I had a passport, which windows were easy to get into, and even what I usually eat. I told them I’m very unwell and have brain injury but they just kept going. When my mate showed up, they pushed me to end the call. Feeling pretty uncomfortable about the whole thing now.

sounds like just a market research firm - nothing to worry about. i took part in one of their surveys once and they never asked for any personal details, just asked about how the economy is impacting my business. the bloke was quite nice and polite - no clue why anyone calls them scammers. if you ring back the number they called from, you get a recorded message. i actually googled them while i was on the call!
