Got a call early this morning around 3.45am from a bloke on this number. He kept saying "Megan says she can't send the images". I just ended the call straight away. Then, he rang again almost immediately, saying the same thing. I told him, not very nicely, that I had no clue who Megan was or what he was on about.

I usually check this site first whenever I get a call from an unknown number, and I was a bit worried this time that it might be a scam. But then I reached out to Google myself using the name the guy gave, and he’d even sent me an email - turns out everything was genuine. Absolutely not Google Ads. Think about it, who would actually visit this site just to leave a nice comment? Most of us are here because we MISSED a call and want to figure out who rang us, yeah? Got a nasty call from someone pretending to be about "Google Ads". They wanted me to log in and share ID numbers plus client details. Seriously, don’t fall for it! I told them to email me a breakdown of what they want and their official website - I’ll share if I get anything. Looks like a proper scam. All the green responses they gave were totally made up.

TOTAL SCAM. They called saying they were from Google and even knew my first name, which isn’t too hard to find on sites like LinkedIn or a simple whois lookup. Then they asked me to confirm my account number by reading it all out loud. I told them “No way.” They then tried to get me to say just the first 6 digits, but I just ended the call. Proper dodgy and confusing situation.

This could either be a legit Google number that fraudsters have faked (they're really clever at copying real company numbers) or it's a total scam call. If you’re certain this was a dodgy call, make sure you report it to the police. Just google 'action fraud', select the 'police.uk' site, and head to the 'reporting' bit by clicking the icon. Follow the steps there. You won’t have to give any personal details if you’re just flagging it as a phishing scam.

At first, I was really doubtful, but turns out it is actually Google Ads. I rang Google's support straight from my Ads dashboard to check the name of my account manager, and they gave me the right person. The account manager then organised a follow-up chat with me using their proper @google[###] email. This is for sure a scam - I phoned Google myself to confirm. This number isn’t theirs at all. Don’t trust the positive comments on here or other sites, they’re likely from the scammers themselves. They attempt to get access to your computer to nick your personal info if you let them.

Received a call earlier from a bloke who was pretty funny and quite pushy, asking for my name and claiming to be my Google Account manager. Yeah, right - if that were true, he’d have known my name straight away! :) He was going on about improving my Adwords campaign, but we’ve got SEO experts managing that who deal with Google directly. So honestly, watch out for these dodgy callers who can’t seem to find a proper job and resort to scamming folks by phone. DO NOT TRUST THIS NUMBER. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!

It is quite clear that the caller, presumably from a call centre, is a woman with a pronounced Asian accent. She states that she is contacting us in regards to our Google Adwords account.
