Definitely a dodgy call. They posed as being from Google Maps, which seemed quite odd. The person had an Asian accent and was baffled by what type of business I ran, asking whether I operated out of London. That’s rather ironic since it's clearly stated on my Google listing.

Got a call today (26/07/2021) from a supposed Google Maps rep, but it felt fishy. We’ve had scam calls before where someone claimed to be Google, so we’re wary now. Since switching to BT’s new digital phone service, it seems scammers already have our home number. We think this call was them trying to verify we’re a small business. Be careful if you’re moving over to BT’s digital setup! It makes me wonder how they find out you’ve switched to digital - is someone at BT leaking small business numbers or what?

I asked why she needed to do that and told her her number has more than 4,000 scam reports linked to it. She seemed pretty shocked and said she’d look for another way to check.
