As a user of EE mobile, I've always been pleased with my predictable monthly charges. However, I was taken aback when I recently checked my account and noticed some unexpected fees. After reaching out to EE for clarification, I was informed that these costs stem from a third-party number, specifically 80876 and the contact at 02076335073. To put it mildly, I am utterly baffled as to who these individuals might be or how they even acquired my phone number. What's more, EE has stated they are unable to assist me with the issue! It strikes me as completely unfair to be billed for something I didn’t authorise, so I’m planning to escalate this matter further and explore other avenues for resolution.

I'm really at my wit's end with this particular phone number that keeps bombarding me with messages. How do I go about putting an end to it?

Just got a proper surprise with my latest o2 bill, the guy I spoke to was helpful though, apart from him saying they’d refund the costs of these calls, not sure how this even happened, I never pick up or reply to messages from unknown numbers and don’t give my number out online. Somehow they’ve managed to get my info. Told o2 to change my number right away and they did without any fuss. These scammers really need to be put to an end.

Is it really fair for me to be charged £3.75 for something I haven't received or even asked for, especially since I've already put a stop to it through the O2 store?
8 years
I've just had a rather unwelcome surprise from Jamster, thanking me for subscribing to their service. To my dismay, they've taken £3.75 from my account and mentioned I’ll be hit with a weekly fee of £4.50 unless I opt out. I reached out to O2, and they told me that I inadvertently signed up just by visiting a certain webpage that popped up, despite my pop-up blocker being active. They also mentioned that blocking these third-party charges isn't something they can do. I've sent a 'stop' text to Jamster, but I’m really anxious about getting bombarded with more “offers” from their long list of numbers. Is there any viable way to prevent this from happening, without having to go so far as to cancel my O2 account?

Got hit with a £41 bill for premium numbers I never signed up for. I phoned Vodafone to sort it out. At first, they said there was nothing they could do but when I asked to see their official complaints process, they changed their tune and gave me a full refund. If they don’t budge, make sure you ask for their complaints procedure - they’re legally required to have one. If they still don’t help, get in touch with Ofcom, they usually step in. I’ve also put a block on any similar charges happening again.

I reckon this is a scam run by someone who’s good at hacking, cause I’ve been charged multiple times which adds up to close to £200! If you get texts from them, ring your network provider straight away and ask for a refund or think about switching to a different company. I’ve asked three times to block calls from numbers like these but nothing’s been done so far.

These muppets scammed me out of dosh. I’ve contacted 3 different times but still no luck. I’m not giving up, I’ll keep bothering 3 until they sort it and give me back my cash. There’s another number linked to it, 03333137900. They seem aware of the scam and tell you to press buttons to try and get a refund. I wouldn’t trust it though, reckon they'd just nick even more money.

These two numbers 020763335073 and 03333137900 have charged me £15 and £30 respectively. I contacted O2 who gave me these numbers but refused any refunds. Apparently I need to track down addresses and ask for my money back myself, but both have denied me. Who should I turn to now? I’m really hoping O2 will block these numbers soon. It feels like they’re working for the scammers and don’t care about loyal customers like me. I pay O2 regularly and yet they didn’t even question why my usual £17 bill suddenly shot up to over £76 (VAT included)!

Got a message like this today and they took £4.50 straight from me. Called up 3 a few times and after a bit of hassle, got my cash back. Honestly don’t get why these phone companies don’t crack down harder on this kinda thing. If lots of folks are getting refunds, it’s gotta be costing them loads. Plus, letting these dodgy lot carry on is likely why our phone bills are so expensive in the first place.

Got a text like this today and they ended up charging me £4.50. Rang Three a few times and finally managed to get a refund. I don’t get why the phone companies don’t do more to tackle this since it must be really expensive for them if loads of people keep asking for their money back. Plus, by letting these scumbags carry on, it’s probably why our call costs are sky high.

They took £29 from my account, so I ringed up EE and they can block that number at once. Apparently, most times they don’t even know about it till customers notice, which makes sense since a lot of us don’t get paper bills anymore and it can go unnoticed. EE mentioned loads of these “competition” style firms do this kind of sneaky subscribing, and they said ITV is one of them too. Definitely a lesson learnt for me!

This just happened to me a few days ago. I’d already messaged them to cancel the service and got a message back saying it was done. when you're online, be careful if something shows up just by hovering your mouse over an ad, you shouldn't need to click on it because sometimes it opens itself and that can end up costing money from whatever account you got running then.
