9 yearsReceived a dubious text requesting payment for a court fine, but I'm certain I owe nothing. When I attempted to ring them back, the line was dead as a doornail.9 yearsI got a message from 02075568666 warning me to settle a court penalty or risk having bailiffs show up at my door.10 yearsSearching for cash, a notice from the courts indicates all is well.11 yearsI keep getting calls from this number, but as soon as I pick up, the line goes silent. Quite annoying, really!11 yearsI received a call from this number, but the caller didn’t leave a message. Quite odd, really!11 yearsI received a text message from HMCTS indicating that I’m required to make a payment to the court, complete with a reference number and instructions to call a particular number. I must admit, I'm rather bewildered... trust is hard to come by in matters like this. Being a law-abiding citizen, I’ve not received any correspondence from the court and don't have any outstanding debts - it feels very much like someone is attempting to extract my banking information. What's more, the message lacked any personal details that might confirm its authenticity. Curious, I did a bit of research on HMCTS alongside that phone number, and the closest contact I found was 0207 566 8555, specifically designated for paying fixed penalties, which is quite different from the 8666 number mentioned in the message. I found this information on an official government website: https://courttribunalfinder.service.gov.uk/courts/london-collection-and-compliance-centre So, I took it upon myself to ring the number just now. To my surprise, I received a recorded message stating that the number is no longer in service and to reach out to a different one instead. This has reinforced my belief that the text sender is trying to pull a fast one on me. I hope this information proves useful to others!HMCTSSubmit Your Own Report (020 7556 8666)
