Got a call from someone claiming to be from a law firm dealing with a no-fault accident case of mine. The caller had the right phone number but was extremely rude and pushy. I told him his story sounded dodgy, and he threatened to call the police on me. He spoke with a thick South Asian accent and didn’t even try to be nice from the get-go. If this was a legit firm, they’d probably fire him for being so tactless. I can’t imagine anyone falling for his act, which might explain why he kept begging me not to hang up.

I received a call purportedly from the HSBC call centre in India, where the person on the line began asking rather dubious 'security questions' to verify a payment. Quite alarmingly suspicious, I must say!

I received a call earlier today from the same number that made our lives a bit hectic a few weeks back. As soon as we picked up, they were keen to grab our name and postcode, then claimed they had availability. However, the name and address they gave us were completely different. It all feels rather suspicious, if you ask me.

We recently got in touch with these folks after they left a message on our answerphone. We decided to use their own reference number they'd provided, but they claimed it was an HSBC business line, not a personal one. The Caller ID showed 08007838422. When we dialled that back, we got a message saying, "You have been contacted by HSBC bank. There is no need to return this call." In the end, there’s no definitive evidence either way. Nevertheless, we're absolutely not willing to share any personal or banking details with someone who calls us out of the blue.
