I don’t owe any council tax but this number keeps ringing me about some account. I never got any letters or anything to say there’s a problem. It calls at about the same time every month and leaves the same creepy voicemail. If it’s actually the council with an issue, why wouldn’t they just email me instead? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

This is for real, the number belongs to Islington Council (LB Islington). If you're not convinced, just ring Islington Council’s main office yourself. I'm not gonna give you the number here, just look it up on Google since some folks on here just assume it's some kind of scam. Don’t just brush it off though, ignoring it might make things worse.

Im pretty sure this aint no scam. When I rang the number back, there was this Islington greeting and it stays open till about 7 in the evening. They then put me through to the right folks who cleared up why I got the text in the first place.

Looks like a total scam to me. I received an identical message, and Islington Council never sends out text msgs about Council Tax. Tried calling their main number straight away at about 17:10 but they’d already shut up shop at 5 pm. Blocked the number straight away. Really hope this 'Rione' gets nabbed soon, whoever’s responsible.

Got a message saying I needed to ring Islington Council straight away about my Council Tax, or else there'd be extra charges. It said to ask for someone called Rione.2. Seemed a bit dodgy to me. So I dialled the number back but from another phone, and it just went to a recorded message explaining how to pay Council Tax. Definitely feels like a scam to me!
