It calls at about the same time every month and leaves the same creepy voicemail. If it’s actually the council with an issue, why wouldn’t they just email me instead? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

On 15th April 2021, I received a phone call from someone who claimed to be looking for my flat. However, they seemed confused and unable to locate it. They asked me several questions, which aroused my suspicion. To verify their legitimacy, I decided to search for information about them online while still on the call. Realizing the situation may not be genuine, I asked them to send me an email instead of providing them with my email address.

This is a fraudulent activity. Although I do have outstanding payments to the Islington Council (I am currently on benefits and arrangements are being made to resolve it), the phone number mentioned here is not the legitimate contact number they use.

It is evident that this is an obvious scam. I received a similar message, however, Islington does not communicate regarding Council Tax matters through text messages. As soon as I received the text at 17:09, I immediately contacted the switchboard at Islington, but unfortunately, they had closed for the day at 17:00. I have blocked the number and sincerely hope that 'Rione' will be apprehended, regardless of who catches them.
