These scammers pretend to be from big companies like BT, saying there’s a problem with your broadband or computer. The tricky part is, a lot of folks checking this probably already know how to spot these cons, but I really feel sorry for those who end up getting caught out by it.

This morning I got ringed 4 times from 0207 485 1508. Every time there was silence before a voice said ‘goodbye’. Earlier on, I picked up a call from a bloke claiming he was from BT tech support. He said my broadband was hacked and wanted to help me fix it if I logged into my computer. I obviously didn’t do that and told him I didn’t trust it. The guy sounded Asian, and I’m not convinced these calls really come from the UK despite the number.
