Got a call from 02074240025. I was about to pick up but stopped myself. A woman just said “hello” before I hung up. Tried ringing back on my landline but no answer. This is the second time in two days I’ve had a call like this. The other one was from Richmond but I didn’t pick up that either.

I’ve been attempting to sort out my mobile phone account details and encountered quite a few problems with their communication. Their English was quite hard to follow, with deep voices that had an unmistakable “African” lilt, reminiscent of folks you might meet from Nigeria, for instance. They presented themselves as representatives from Carphone Warehouse, promising a fantastic deal, but then they hurried into asking me for the details of my current provider, claiming they needed to “check” when I was eligible for an upgrade. Honestly, I wouldn’t dream of handing over my personal information to anyone like that. They could potentially set up multiple contracts in your name, leaving you with a mountain of debt to deal with!

The first caller is just to weed out people who hang up or get rude. The second one asks for all the info. I kept them chatting forever and gave them this: Boris Johnson, 10 Downing Street, Westminster, London SW1A 2AA. Then she goes, "Wait, you live in the Prime Minister's residence?" lol.
