I got a call on my home phone from the number 02074465646. The woman on the other end spoke quite politely but had an accent that made it hard for me to catch everything she was saying. She told me there was a problem with my computer and that I’d somehow caught a nasty virus. "Blimey, that’s worrying," I replied. She then asked me to switch on my computer (which was funny because I was already sitting right in front of it). I explained I couldn’t do that right then, and she asked why. I told her I don’t even own a computer! After that, she just dropped the call.

In just one day, I got four calls from a lady saying she was with BT Openreach. The last call was at 7:45 in the morning which really annoyed me. When I told her I’d already asked her the day before to stop calling, she said it was important so she had to ring again. Got a call earlier today claiming to be from OpenReach. I had my suspicions straight away, so I played along for a bit. They kept pushing me to visit a certain website, but when I flat out refused, the woman snapped at me to "go [email protected] yourself" before hanging up. I actually find these scammers a bit of a challenge. Usually, I try to keep them talking as long as I can to waste their time. 2nd Feb 2017 - Weirdly, this number actually picked up when I called. The person on the line spoke with an Indian accent and claimed to be from Microsoft. They wanted me to launch TeamViewer. I played along but when they asked what I was seeing, I had a bit of fun. Told them "I see your mum doing something with a goat, and her backside’s even darker than the goat’s." The poor scammer was proper annoyed after that!

Looks like it’s the same lady behind all these calls, just like others have said. I’ve heard some folks joking about getting foghorns to blast those scammers in the ear, but that sounds pretty dodgy legally. You’d probably need earplugs yourself first, just in case you accidentally end up blasting your mum-in-law instead of the scammer! At 8.30 in the morning my husband picked up the phone and an Asian bloke claimed to be from BT Openreach. He told us our computer had been infected by a virus that had been creeping in over time.
