Picking up from what I said earlier. Since it happened over a phone call, I guess I would’ve needed to provide my card info; if that was true, they’d have probably charged way more than £9.99. My phone line didn’t get cut off and it’s still fine. Seems like it was just a trick to nab my card details.

I got a call from a guy saying BT had contacted me back in February about me paying too much for my line rental, and that the price was being adjusted. He said they’d send me another letter with all the details soon. But then he told me a brand new account had been created for me and I had to pay £9.99 right away, or they'd disconnect me within a few hours while they sorted it out. If I got cut off, there’d be a £5 fee to reconnect. Tried looking up the number but couldn’t find anything about it anywhere.
