Adding to my previous remarks, it seems quite likely that during this phone conversation, I would have been asked to provide my credit card information. I can't shake the feeling that they would have swiped significantly more than the stated £9.99. My phone remains functional, with no interruptions in service. Clearly, this is nothing more than a ruse to obtain my card particulars.

I received a call from a gentleman who assertively stated that BT had contacted me in February regarding an overcharge on my line rental fees, claiming that alterations were forthcoming. He mentioned that I would receive a fresh letter detailing all of this, but in the meantime, he insisted that a new account had been established in my name. I was pressured to pay £9.99 immediately or risk being disconnected within mere hours while they purportedly rectified the situation. He warned me that should I be cut off, there would be an additional £5 charge to reconnect me. However, when I tried to look up the number, there appears to be no record of it at all.
