It appears we've encountered a scammer masquerading as Microsoft's IT department. They concoct a story about some technical difficulty that necessitates intervention on their part. Before you know it, they coax you into installing suspicious software, which grants them unwarranted access to your system. This allows them to pilfer whatever personal data they fancy to perpetrate their fraudulent schemes. Rest assured, I’ve flagged them to Action Fraud for their dubious activities.

Received a dodgy landline call today, clearly a scammer trying to pull the old "your computer's got a virus" trick. The bloke barely spoke English and claimed my Windows were all messed up. When I probed him about which computer he was on about, he resorted to calling me a mother f***er and promptly hung up. What a clueless numpty! - Caller: PC virus con artist
