Loads of these calls come from some app that just dials numbers at random. When someone picks up, they hang up straight away. BT can't track these calls, so I usually just mess about and waste their time. If they ever ask for card info, I just give them 0000000 and have a laugh.

Got a call from this number, but nobody spoke when I picked up, so I ended the call. Then it rang again moments later, and this time some bloke started shouting at me, asking why I hung up. I didn’t bother replying and just ended it again. I’ve reported the incident now, so we’ll see if anything comes of it. Such a hassle. Does BT have any say in who gets assigned their numbers? I got a call from a guy who said he was from Benefits UK, sounded like he was from Asia, but when I asked for their website or any postal address, he couldn’t give me any info. I told him to take me off their list and he just cut the call. Tried ringing back and it just goes to an answer machine with some weird message saying the number can’t be reached. Very dodgy!

I've got a total of 27 numbers on my block list at this point. A good number of them seem to be coming from some call centre in India. Cleverly, they're using a computer system that allows them to masquerade as if they're calling from various towns across the UK, aiming to trick unsuspecting folks like us.

Got a ring from someone saying they were 'Calls Protect'. They claimed it was to block spam calls and asked if I was set up on direct debit, then wanted my VISA card details. When I asked why, they said it was a single payment of $223 for a lifetime service. Told her I’m in the UK and pay in pounds, then the cheeky cow just hung up on me.

Got a ring from this number the other day. The woman on the line said she was from Calls Protect and already knew my name and info. She spoke with a British accent, which almost had me fooled.
