I’ve just received a missed call from this number.

I too received a call from this number on the 5th of November 2012. It rang four times, then abruptly disconnected as soon as I answered. When I attempted to return the call, a gentleman named Arthur Goldsmith picked up and claimed he had no idea about my call. Curiously, when I inquired about the company he represented, he stated it was EC1 Consultants. Interestingly, my caller ID indicates that I’ve had previous calls from 020 7336 1638 and 020 7336 1708 over the last six weeks. It turns out this company is linked to www.ec1consultants.com, a firm pushing investments in Rare Earth Metals and promising a 20% annual return. They’d also contacted me unexpectedly despite my being registered with the TPS just two months prior. I tried calling 020 7336 1708 again, only to be met by some dubious salesman who insisted they weren’t scammers and were compliant with the TPS guidelines. Yet, when I pointed out their use of Silent Calls-often lacking sufficient staff for their automated dialling-he was left speechless. It’s crucial to report these Silent Call incidents to www.ofcom.org.uk and any TPS violations to www.tpsonline.org.uk.
