I received a text message today on my Orange account from the mobile number +44 7786 200517. The message said: "Hello, we would like to discuss your account. Please contact Claire from the retention team at 0207-288-8799 regarding Orange or EE customers. Thank you." Considering the lack of trustworthiness, I ignored the message and deleted it.

On the 15th of February 2017, I received a message claiming to be from Claire, who identifies as a member of the EE/Orange retention team. She requested that I update my details. In response, I provided my phone number, address, postcode, monthly payment amount, and confirmed whether I bought my own phone as I am currently on a sim-only contract. When I expressed satisfaction with my current phone, the individual on the other end, who spoke in a clear British accent, abruptly ended the call. Strangely enough, I received identical text messages yesterday and today. When I contacted EE customer service about this issue, they informed me that the number in question has no affiliation with their company.

We received a text message from them as well, apparently trying to get in touch with Anna regarding our T-Mobile account. When we rang the number, we were told that these individuals are some sort of third-party service that T-Mobile has shared our details with. They claim you can manage your contract upgrades via them. It seems likely that only those eligible for an upgrade get sent this sort of message. We certainly won’t be dealing with them; we'd much prefer to sort things directly with T-Mobile instead.

We reached out to T-Mobile regarding this possible scam, and the representative we spoke with mentioned that they've indeed heard of it. However, they also clarified that while what these individuals are doing isn't technically illegal, it certainly raises ethical questions. Apparently, Carphone Warehouse has a habit of sharing customer information with firms that pay for such details, which is rather disconcerting. We decided to contact the so-called 'scam' company and let them know T-Mobile has no affiliation with them, but they simply insisted we had our details mixed up!

Hello T-Mobile Customer Services, I tried reaching out in relation to your account but found myself in a bit of a pickle when I couldn't get through. Kindly contact Anna at 0207-288-8799. Just to clarify, we're not T-Mobile customers and have never shared our number with anyone from your company. We've held this number for a decade, just to set the record straight. A couple of weeks back, we did have a conversation with O2 about an upgrade, but other than that, the only other company that's had our digits recently is Betamax for a VOIP service we set up.

I received a call from individuals claiming to be authorized agents of EE, stating that I would not be able to renew my current contract in the near future. It's clear that this is a complete scam. It would be wise for EE to promptly reach out and ensure these troublesome companies are permanently banned. Sadly, people rarely have anything positive to say about these types of companies.

Just received a rather dodgy text from 0207 288 8799, labelled as coming from "Loyalty Dep". The message claims I missed a call regarding my T-Mobile account and urges me to contact Kate at the same number. It all seems like utter nonsense to me, and I've not bothered to call back. What I'm really interested in is how I can get this company investigated or shut down? Also, how on earth did they manage to obtain my personal mobile number in the first place? It's beyond me!

I've just received a text from someone claiming to be Hanna Davies, and it was eerily similar to previous retentions pitches I've had from T-Mobile. I didn’t even get a missed call, which is odd. We always avoid ringing back numbers we don't recognise; instead, we tend to do a bit of searching online first. It's concerning when these folks seem to know our name and number-makes you wonder what else they might have. We're now genuinely worried it could be a case of identity theft, and that if we were to call back, they might try to extract even more sensitive information from us. So, that message is gone for good!

We've just received a text from something claiming to be the Loyalty Department regarding our T-Mobile account, instructing us to call Kate on 0207 288 8799. Given that our direct debit has only recently been processed, we're a bit wary of this message. After checking this site, it becomes clear that these are just dodgy crooks trying to exploit our information to get us to ring them. I've been receiving calls from individuals claiming to be the loyalty team for T Cell, promising a brand new phone and matching our current line rental. However, when I reached out to T Cell directly, they had no idea who these callers were. They advised that I report the number to the local consumer protection office as it seems to be a fraudulent operation. Please, everyone, be cautious and don’t divulge any personal information to these people. One specific number that’s been calling us is 07970391862, and when we tried to return the call to speak with someone named Nicholas, they informed us that she’d actually left the job just the day before. Quite the dodgy situation, I'd say!
