This particular number belongs to the Metropolitan Police Service (any digits finishing in 1212 correspond to police contact numbers), however, it's worth noting that the police do not reach out from this line. Should you get a phone call from this number, it’s highly probable that it’s a scam.

020 7230 1212 is actually the Metropolitan Police’s actual phone number. I don’t get how scammers are even pretending to be from this number when it’s a real official Police contact. The police wouldn’t ring you up asking about anything to do with HMRC taxes or NCA warrants, so be careful. Just look it up on Google and you’ll see it links to the Metropolitan Police - the Police & Support Services division uses this number. Stay safe!

I received a call from a chap claiming to be with the Scotland Yard Fraud Office, alerting me to some dodgy activity on a credit card in London. Clear as day, it was a scam, but he oddly suggested I dial 999, which raises alarm bells about my phone's security. I haven’t reached out to the local authorities yet. I see that this number is flagged on your site. What’s puzzling is why it’s still able to make calls?

This number, 02072301212, called my dad and was threatening him that he had to pay £70,000 or he'd get arrested. The bloke was really aggressive and got quite rude when my dad said he needed to check with his kids because his English isn’t great. Absolute scumbags, honestly. It terrified him since he’s very poorly and vulnerable. No need for these disgusting people causing more worry for him!

My significant other received a call from this number earlier. A chap claiming to be a policeman introduced himself as Eric Marshall and presented an ID number of 907197. He had a bit of an accent, too. Initially, they rang from a different number, 07509 645037. Just a heads-up to everyone, stay vigilant!

Greetings! I received a rather alarming call from 07261215935, with the caller asserting that my National Insurance number would be suspended due to alleged fraudulent activity. They claimed to represent the Department for Work and Pensions. After indulging them for a brief moment, I decided to terminate the call. Almost immediately after, I was contacted by 02072301212, purporting to be from the police. Following that, I received another call from 08005871377 concerning the same matter. When I requested to speak with someone British, since the previous interlocutors were all Indian, they abruptly hung up on me. Quite the experience, I must say!

Hello there,
I recently received a phone call from this number claiming I’d allegedly been involved in tax fraud on the 17th of December, 2020, at approximately midday. The whole thing struck me as rather dubious, so I chose not to engage with the caller and promptly ended the conversation.

I got a call from this woman with an accent, asking if I recalled a "recent car crash". I said, "yeah, it killed me" and hung up. Not long after, a bloke phoned me asking if I’d just had a chat with one of his colleagues about a "past accident". I confirmed and then cut the call again.

I reckon this police number might be faked by scammers. They've done it before with the police's scam reporting line! Shows how brazen these idiots are. If anyone gets a dodgy call from this number, don’t call it back - instead, report it through the police’s official website. The police will definitely want to know about it!! Just Google 'action fraud', find the ‘police.uk’ site and head to the 'reporting' area. You can then fill out a phishing report with the number and details of the call, no need to sign up or anything. Stay safe everyone!

Some bloke with a foreign accent called claiming he was with the police and there was a warrant for my arrest over unpaid taxes. The guy got pretty pushy as the chat went along, so I just ended the call. Moments later, another caller saying he was an inspector called back, saying the case had been bumped up. Apparently I had a debt but they were willing to sort it without going to court. They also claimed they’d frozen all my bank accounts and blocked my passport in case I tried to flee the country. Honestly, it’s unbelievable how brazen these scammers are.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from HMRC, telling me I owed nearly £8000 from the past decade and if I didn’t pay straight away, I’d be nicked. He said I could transfer to a payment plan if I gave what I could right away. He warned me not to end the call or it’d be breaking the law! Then he phoned back straight away, asking why I’d cut off. Total scam if you ask me.

I had an intriguing phone call today - a rather persistent chap with an Asian accent claimed he was from the police and insisted that an officer would be arriving at my residence shortly. Naturally, I was baffled by the whole affair. However, it didn’t take long for the penny to drop; it was clearly a scam of some description. The motive behind their antics remains a mystery to me, but I certainly wouldn’t place any trust in them. Interestingly, the number that initially contacted me claimed to be from HMRC, with the digits 0203475 0519! Just a word of caution: steer clear of these charlatans and never divulge your personal information to them!

I just had an alarming phone call from this number, where the caller claimed to have captured me texting on my phone and threatened a £200 fine along with six penalty points on my driving licence. At the time, I was on a train and found it quite hard to hear him properly. When I requested him to clarify his statement, he turned hostile and berated me for using offensive language, which I categorically do not do. It left me feeling very anxious and intimidated. However, after I input the number into a search engine, I was relieved to discover this forum. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone in this, and I truly appreciate the creation of this space. I hope that my experience can assist others who may find themselves in similar distressing situations.

I just had a rather peculiar phone call from 0207 230 1212, which supposedly belongs to the Metropolitan Police. The caller didn’t bother to introduce themselves and insisted the chat was being recorded. They told me I’d been caught on film in London on Tuesday for allegedly using my mobile while driving. When I politely asked who I was speaking to, they told me not to interrupt! Then they stated that I could expect six penalty points and a £200 fine to arrive within the next ten days. Is anyone else experiencing these sorts of calls?

Earlier today, I received yet another call from that same number. The individual on the line introduced himself as JON, claiming he was contacting me on behalf of the British High Command from the London Metropolitan Police. His opening remark was quite alarming, as he insisted that he needed to arrest me and that I was not permitted to hang up or involve anyone else in the discussion. This chap proceeded to ask for a variety of my private information, including my passport number and my permanent address, which set off serious alarm bells. After the conversation finally concluded, I wasted no time in dialling 999 to report this disturbing incident. They suspected it was a fraudulent call, which did little to ease my mind.

On the morning of 23rd June 2017, precisely at 8:47 am, my phone rang from this number. The caller had a noticeable accent reminiscent of someone from Pakistan attempting a British twang. He claimed to be representing the Metro Police. Given that I've encountered similar dubious calls purporting to be from HMRC in the past, I promptly hung up and took it upon myself to check the legitimacy of this number. Turns out, it was yet another fraudulent call.

Somehow, these individuals managed to obtain my phone number and name, claiming to be from the London Metropolitan Police, and insisting they needed to talk about something urgent. However, their accent seemed quite forced and inauthentic. I told them I was busy and recognised it as a scam, asking them to verify their legitimacy. Instead of providing any proof, the bloke resorted to cursing in Hindi. Quite the experience, I must say!

Should you receive a call from this number, be aware that it's likely from an overseas source. You can usually tell because there's often a noticeable lag before you hear the other person utter their first word, typically “hello”. It’s best to terminate the call right away, as they tend to be a drain on your time.

Some bloke with a foreign accent rang me, claiming he was from my "internet company" and started babbling about my bad connection. But since my internet was working fine at the time, i instantly smelt something dodgy. I just told him "all good here mate" and hung up. I received a rather dubious call today at precisely half past ten from the number 02072301212, although the caller referred to it as 272301212. The voice on the other end, clearly not local, claimed that there had been an attempt to siphon funds from my account at Barclay's, which is rather amusing considering I don’t even bank with them! He introduced himself as Inspector Michael Ryan from the Cyber Crime Unit, yet when I probed for more details, he became rather evasive, insisting he needed to divulge the alleged perpetrator's name and address. I swiftly put him in his place and hung up. What a cheek!

Once more, I've received a call from someone chasing after a Mr Rollo, a figure who, needless to say, doesn't exist, concerning a so-called car crash that also never happened. This has got to come to an end! They really put my boyfriend under pressure, insisting, "We rang yesterday; I remember you! Now, spill the beans about the accident." It's utter nonsense, and I refuse to be tormented by this ridiculousness any longer. An "investigation officer"? What a joke! To make matters worse, my boyfriend struggles with his R's. So when he tried to clarify, "I didn’t say 'Gollo'; I said 'Rollo'," it only escalated the absurdity. I'm absolutely livid!

I keep getting these persistent calls from someone who insists on discussing a car accident that never actually occurred, especially since I don’t drive at the moment. They keep suggesting I file a claim on insurance for it. I’ve already explained to them that there was no accident and asked them to stop contacting me. Yet, they rang again today. When I asked for their number, they gave me one, but I doubt it's genuine. I also made it clear that I might report them to the police for this continual harassment. I really hope I can find a way to block these individuals from bothering me any further.
