I received a rather dodgy recorded call earlier today. The voice, which belonged to a middle-aged chap with a distinct Midlands twang, sounded suspiciously like a phishing attempt. He claimed to be from HMRC, stating something about a tax fraud allegation and urging me to press ‘1’ for more info. I can assure you that HMRC would never reach out to individuals in such a manner! I took a look at my genuine HMRC account, and there were absolutely no notifications. I've gone ahead and blocked that number without a second thought!
