10 yearsThe caller didn't bother to leave a voicemail.14 yearsBack in December 2012, I got a new landline number. Since then, I keep getting calls from a man with an Asian accent, asking me about a car accident from three years ago. He even knew my name! I told him I don’t live near where it supposedly happened and that I wasn’t involved in any crashes. Despite telling him to stop calling, he rang me again on 18th April. I’ve warned him twice now. I’m thinking of passing this number on to the police, as apparently others have been getting the exact same calls with the same voice and questions on their home phones.14 yearsToday, a call came through from someone claiming to be from Road Traffic Accident Management, saying they were a government-backed group supposed to help me claim compensation for a car accident within the last three years. Thing is, no such government body exists, and I definitely haven’t had any accidents in that time. I’m also signed up to the telephone preference service. I told the young man on the phone these facts, but he kept cutting me off whenever I tried to explain. After I warned I'd take legal steps, he finally ended the call. My advice? Just hang up straight away, but make sure to keep reporting these dodgy calls.Road Traffic Accident ManagementGovernmentUK GovernmentTelephone Preference ServiceSubmit Your Own Report (020 7193 7605)
