Got a call from the number above recently, and somehow I must have been on their good side - they claimed I was eligible for £10,000! They asked me to phone 02071934272 and mention j/444. I told them it all sounded way too dodgy since no government is just handing out large sums of money for no reason. I also said I'd be looking up their number 003202389001 and the first one online to check. Does anyone actually fall for this? I swear they must think we're daft to buy into such nonsense.

got a ring from some so-called government folks today - almost joked by saying “are you MI6 or sumthin?”, but held back. turns out I supposedly won £8,000 from them. insane! all they want is for me to call a different number straight away. had nothing else going on so I chatted with the bloke for about 10 minutes to waste his time a bit, hoping others wouldn’t have to deal with him. maybe should’ve thrown some questions about their “government work” at him. btw, if anyone fancies claiming that £8k, my ref code is mr422.

Got a call from someone claiming the government’s handing out £8,000. I had a laugh and played along with some sarcastic replies, but they didn’t seem to catch on at all. Quite funny really!

Just got a call earlier saying I could get an £8000 grant from the government or something. Honestly, who else just hands out cash like that? Sounds like a total scam to me. Wish they’d shut these fraudsters down. If it were my mum, she’d be talking non-stop to them! The number was 0207191934272, and they kept asking for someone called AJ 223.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the “UK government grant agency” but their English was awful. They told me I’d been chosen to get £8000 and told me to ring 02071934272 and use tn999 as my reference. Then they asked how I wanted the money sent - bank transfer, cheque or cash, but I told them I doubt the government gives out cash! After that, they just hung up on me. What a muppet!

My 86 year old grandma got a call from someone claiming to be a government agency offering £8000. Luckily, she’s pretty sharp and didn’t fall for it! What a dodgy scam.

Just got a call from 02071934272, the same number as mentioned above. She told me pretty much the same story but said I needed to go down to the post office with £210 to unlock some grant money. She also asked me to take my ID and ring her up once I arrived. The lady said her name was Jenny Wilson. Fingers crossed it’s not some sort of scam!

So, this person called up out of the blue claiming the UK government owed me £8000. Totally made-up stuff, of course. I mean, where would that even come from? Quite the cheeky scam if you ask me!
