I got a call from a woman saying she was from Royal Mail, saying they had a parcel waiting because of missing postage. I asked if I could just pop down to the depot to collect it but she didn’t answer and there was just silence, so I ended the call.

Earlier today, I received a rather dubious call from a woman purporting to represent the Royal Mail. She insisted she had a parcel waiting for me and presented me with the options of either collecting it from a nearby depot or forking out £1.50 for a next-day delivery service. Conveniently, I happened to be in the vicinity of the depot, so I thought I'd just go and collect it in person. Upon arriving at the depot, the staff informed me that they encounter these sorts of scams on a daily basis. I must admit, I fell for it. So, heed my warning: think twice before trusting unknown numbers or those without caller ID!

I wasn’t about to just pay without knowing who sent it, but they kept saying they couldn’t tell me anything about the parcel unless I paid up first. Then they asked for my email to send me some instructions, which made me more suspicious. After I said no a couple times, they just ended the call. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Hello there, I recently received a call from a woman claiming to be with Royal Mail, insisting I needed to settle an outstanding balance in order for my parcel to be delivered. She had my name, which made me a bit uneasy, so I ended up sharing my email address. Fortunately, I managed to avoid clicking on any of the links in the email she sent and promptly deleted it from my junk folder. It’s truly appalling how low these scammers will stoop!
