I made sure to express my frustration to them!4 yearsWhile browsing on my sister's laptop, an alarming message popped up, warning that a trojan spyware virus had infiltrated her device and threatened to pilfer sensitive information, including passwords, banking details, and other personal data that would naturally set anyone on edge. The number displayed on-screen claimed to be from Microsoft Support, urging her to phone them IMMEDIATELY, presumably to gain remote access to her computer. We decided to look up Microsoft Support (after they initially contacted her), and thankfully learned it was all a SCAM. The advice we received was to DISCONNECT the router to sever the internet link and then reboot the laptop (making sure not to reconnect the router afterwards). We allowed it to remain off for about ten minutes before switching it back on, and fortunately, everything returned to normal.
