Got a call from this number earlier, it was one of those automated warnings about fraud linked to me, asking me to press 1 to talk to someone from HMRC. They said if I didn’t press 1, a warrant would be put out and I’d get arrested! Absolutely terrifying. Thankfully, I’d read about this scam before and checked online to be sure. Hope no one falls for it, it’s so nasty.

Had a call from a man who didn’t speak English well. He said he was from HMRC and wanted to know if I’d got any letters from them cos they’d been trying to contact me. He knew my name and address. He kept asking if I’d received any letters, and I kept saying no. Then he told me to call the local office. I said I wouldn’t, and he asked why not. So I asked him for my National Insurance number. He gave me a number but it wasn’t mine, so I told him that. The call then just ended suddenly.

My partner got a voicemail from someone called Sarah Wilson saying there was urgent stuff to deal with, and mentioned solicitors and all, which really freaked him out since he’d been dealing with HMRC lately. It was quite upsetting. I phoned HMRC to ask how they got hold of his number and knew he’d been in touch, but the person I spoke to just said “It’s just a coincidence, what do you expect me to do about it?” with a really rude tone. 0207 193 0728 - Total HMRC scam. Didn’t pick up but got a voicemail that was a recorded message in a strong American accent from someone called Officer Sarah Wilson, claiming to be from HMRC. The message warned me not to ignore the call because a case had been opened against me and both my solicitor and I would suffer if I didn’t get back to them. This has got to be a massive scam and really should be looked into urgently because vulnerable folks like my husband get very stressed by this.

These lot have rang my husband four times now, and he’s got early dementia. They keep using his mobile, and sometimes I don’t even know until I hear him getting upset. They’ve already switched numbers a few times. First it was 02071930728, then 02392160737, and just recently a 0208 number but I didn’t catch the last digits. This feels like a huge scam that really needs looking into quickly because it’s causing my husband a lot of unnecessary stress.

02071930728 keeps calling with some dodgy automated voice pretending to be HMRC. I've blocked the number straight away. Such muppets!

02071930728 This call really got to me because it’s awful that there are people out there taking advantage of the elderly and those who are vulnerable. They really need to be put to a stop. I’m 70 and have a disability, but luckily I worked out it was a nasty scam straight away. Still, it made me feel uneasy and that upset me a lot.

Hey, got a call from this number, missed it yesterday and then again this morning. When I rang back, some guy with a thick Indian accent picked up and said I had a summons against me. I haven’t done anything wrong, so I just hung up. Honestly, it was a pretty unpleasant call - who wants stuff like that coming through their phone? Got a call on my phone from some American-sounding recorded voice saying they were with HMRC. Such a pain! Definitely a scam.

Got a missed call and decided to ring back. Some guy with a strong Asian accent told me I hadn’t settled my income tax and I needed to sort it with a solicitor straight away. I told him I pay my taxes via my employer. He warned me about prosecution. I just told him it’s a scam and to stop calling. When I hung up, an automated message started playing with an American woman saying the same stuff, threatening me about taxes. I’ve blocked the number now.

My wife seems to think I’m dodging my taxes, which honestly worries me more than the scammers themselves. Not sure if I’m more let down by her doubts or the pathetic scam call I got. It was a dodgy American digital voice, made some threats, then bizarrely ended with “have a nice day!” What a rubbish attempt.

This is definitely a fraud call claiming you owe back tax. Just ignore it and don't ring them back.

Got a call from this number, and my phone showed it was from London. I didn’t pick up but later there was a voicemail with an American woman's voice. I didn’t bother to play it after I'd looked up this site. I've blocked the number and wiped the voicemail. It's just so annoying dealing with these dodgy callers!

Got a recorded message with an American accent, and it was so annoying. Honestly, I can't get why BT and other providers let these calls come through on UK landlines - they really should be blocking them by now.

Yeah, this one’s definitely a scam. A woman with a strange accent claimed to be from HMRC. I suspected it was fake from the start but stuck around just to see what the caller was like. Turns out she was quite cheeky and really pushy. I’m going to report it to HMRC, and I suggest you do the same.

I got an automated call supposedly from HMRC warning me to ring them back or I'd be in trouble. The dodgy grammar and the way the message ended with "Take Care" really gave it away as a scam, even if the poor-quality recorded voice didn’t. Definitely a con!

Couldn't believe it was Sarah Wilson calling again - exactly the same story. Definitely a total scam, so I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

They called using the wrong name which made me doubt them right away. When I told them I was going to report their rude and scary voicemail, they just cut me off. I tried ringing the number a third time to get their London office address, but the call dropped after a couple of rings - looks like they've switched numbers. I’ve reported this to HMRC straight away. Please warn anyone who might be vulnerable to never share personal details, no matter how intimidating the caller seems. I've also blocked the number now.

Got a voicemail from someone called Sarah Wilson, threatening me with legal action. When I rang back, a guy who sounded like he might be Asian said I owed £4,000 and had to pay it straight away or they'd take me to court. I told him I’d check with HMRC first and then just hung up.

Like others have said, I didn’t pick up the call. Later, I got a voicemail from some American-sounding Sarah Wilson saying she was with HMRC, which felt really dodgy. I’m relieved to see I wasn’t imagining it after reading these comments.

I got a voicemail from someone called Sarah Wilson, it was the exact same message as before. Seems like they're switching up numbers because a few weeks back, I got a call from a Reading area code. Pretty annoying how they're doing this.
