My neighbour, who’s quite old, got a call from a bloke claiming to be Kyle Burton. He was chatting about some shares and asking for people to invest in building homes on a golf course in Florida. Apparently some big investor, said it was Amazon, pulled out last minute. Sounds like a total con to me. If you get this call, just put the phone down immediately!

Today my wife picked up a call from 0207 1930277. A bloke with a fancy accent was on the line, asking if I held shares in a certain company - he actually mentioned the name. I wasn’t home at the time. The guy said his name was "Kyle Burton". Before doing anything, I looked up the number on this site, and thanks to all the folks who share their experiences, I’ve now blocked it. Cheers for having such a handy site!

Today around midday, my wife answered a call from 02071930277. The gentleman on the line asked for her first name and wanted to know what it was regarding. He spoke very politely and mentioned something about RSA shares. He said he had my number and would ring back when I was home. I tried calling the number back but got a message saying they’re unavailable right now. Feels like a sketchy boiler room scam, definitely dodgy and not to be trusted.

A bloke rang me on the landline, sounded quite polite and knew my name. He claimed to be from MWT financial advisers, which I've never heard of before or dealt with. He asked if I'd been watching the share price of some company lately (I said no), then told me it’d be best to keep hold of whatever shares I had. I just said alright and ended the call. Honestly, I was really confused about the whole thing.

Got a call from a bloke with a really posh accent, said he was from something like NWT or MWT, talking about my Johnson Matthey shares. Problem is, I don’t own any shares from Johnson Matthey. I told him I’m clueless when it comes to stocks and that my stockbroker handles everything like that. He then said he’d send a letter for me to give to the stockbroker! Bit odd if you ask me.

Got a call out of the blue from a bloke who said his name was Kyle Burton, working at MWT - or maybe it was NWT? He claimed to be based in Canary Wharf. At first, he chatted about some shares I own in Prudential, which I suppose anyone can look up somewhere. But then he quickly switched gears and started trying to pitch some land in Florida to me. Really felt like a dodgy deal to me. I ended the call as soon as he pushed me to sign up for something. During the chat, he gave me a “direct number” to ring back: 0207 193 4670. Watch out for this one!

Just like others have said, this guy was really polite and was chatting about some share updates for a firm I’m invested in, not ITV though. Because it’s a public company, anyone can find the shareholder list online. The company I’m involved with never calls anyone directly. So, it’s definitely dodgy. Had something similar happen with one of those ‘boiler room’ scams a while back. I reported it to Action Fraud.
