Got a call from a woman who was really abrupt at first. She asked for my name (which I gave), then my address (I gave that too). Then she demanded I pay immediately or she'd send a police warrant. She asked for my bank's name, which I didn’t give. Next, she wanted to know if I was prepared to pay, I said yes. Then she asked if I had £1800 in my account, I said no. She then asked how much I did have, and at that point I got really suspicious and ended the call. Check the HMRC website for details. They’re warning folks about this scam.

I received a call purporting to be from BT, and the caller claimed he was aware that I had switched providers. He then inquired about who I was currently with, but I chose not to disclose that information. It's not the first time I've encountered these sort of dubious calls, but I've noticed they seem to have upped their game. Previously, they would threaten to cut off my BT service unless I returned their call. This caller, however, was rather courteous and didn't press the issue further. It's merely an annoyance at this stage, really.

Someone rang me saying they were from BT offering to lower my broadband bill and get me out of my Sky contract. They soon started asking for personal details. I've had this number hounding me twice today and twice the day before-not a nice way to spend one’s time! Four rings, and then silence. I’ve chosen not to answer, and I've now put the number on my block list. It seems to be some sort of automated voice nonsense attempting to lure the unsuspecting into dialling a fake BT number they provide, under the guise of stopping the incessant calls. I can't help but feel this could lead to those clever clogs charging you premium rates or, worse still, filching your personal information. Best to steer clear and not fall for their tricks! I found out the company behind the calls is named CCA by ringing them back. Their voicemail gives a number that actually belongs to BT, who have no clue about CCA. I took a call from them a few months ago, and the salesperson was super pushy, trying to get me to sign up and set up a direct debit immediately. You can block the number, but they just come back later with a different UK city number - it’s like playing phone whack-a-mole. Honestly, only ignoring it completely or changing your phone number will stop the hassle.

That's from BT Telesales, they already have your info like account name and number, so they're allowed to call. They’re meant to ask for your password before offering you BT Broadband or mobile services. I saw the CCA address was posted on 07/09. If you’re not happy, just block 1572, easy to do! Try ringing BT yourself. Your BT account probably has a "No marketing calls" flag set up. Give BT a bell on 0800 800 150 (customer services), give them your phone and account number, and ask them to change your setting to "No calls". That should stop CCA International from bothering you.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT. They said I’d get 60% back on my bill because they’d done some work nearby. Thing is, I’m not even a BT customer, so it was a bit fishy. When they asked who my provider was, I got a really pushy sales vibe, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

I picked up without checking the number first, but there was no sound at the other end. I usually don’t even bother answering if the number looks unfamiliar, but this time I did. Got a call from 020719 before. Pretty clear it’s a scammer, most of the time it’s a BT scam anyway.

Loads of false info out there, but this is the actual company making the calls. No idea why folks make up fake details. They're officially appointed by BT as telesales agents for BT TV, mobile, and broadband. Check [#]bt[###]/partners to verify their credentials. They only do telesales. If you’re not happy with them, just block 1572 - it’s straightforward!

Got calls from this number non stop. Total pestering and pure nuisance. For anyone saying this number is SAFE - do you even know what harassment is? Had to block it after 7 calls in just a few days.

this is not a scam, pls check Posts from 12/08 & 08/07 theres no point putting in false info. the name and address of this telemarketer has been shared loads of times. block 1572 and you can verify on the main BT site [#]bt[###]/partners, all info is there. they are a contracted BT sales company.

Keep getting calls at the worst times. I never pick up numbers I don’t recognise. From what others are saying, it looks like either some kind of scam or just annoying telemarketers. I blocked the number but they keep ringing anyway!

Got a call from BT trying to chat with my husband about maybe cutting costs on our broadband. Told them he wasn’t around and asked them to send the details in writing. The lady was polite, sounded British rather than the typical Indian or Asian accent I usually get. She agreed and then just hung up. I’ll hang tight and see if they call back again.

They’re a telesales firm working with BT, so check the official BT page [#]bt[###]/partners for confirmation. They only handle sales for BT TV, broadband, and mobiles. Obviously, BT has shared your info with them - account number, name and phone - which is perfectly legal. My advice? Just block 1572 to avoid any more calls.

02071921396 Got a nice caller from BT trying to help me save some cash. They asked for my name, address and date of birth. I was like, why do you need my DOB? I didn’t give it and told them nicely that BT already has this info and asking for my date of birth sounds risky, like identity theft waiting to happen!

If you visit the official BT website and check out [#]BT[###]/PARTNERS, you’ll find the names and addresses of all six official UK partners BT uses. One of them is CCA International, located at 8 Harbour Exchange Square, London E14 9HF. Their number is 020 7814 5218 and the email is ccainternational[###]. Expect calls from them to come from 0207 1921396.

This seems like some kind of BT-related outfit. Theyre really daft, ringing me up just after I switched to a cracking deal with BT. So, yeah, you can try that 0300 number but apparently you can change your contact settings on my BT, if you’ve got an account, that’s probably the best bet. I don't hold it against the callers, they’re just doing their job for the company who obviously have targets and keep hassling people like us to hit them. The folks who actually ring us probably just get a number and the same worn-out script you all know. Just be nice and polite, yeah. X

Just got a call from someone saying he was "Ali" from the Motor Insurers Bureau, claiming I was owed around £4000-5000 for a crash I supposedly had in the past couple of years. He wanted me to confirm the date of the accident, but I’m pretty sure the MIB don’t handle things like this by phone. I told him I wouldn’t share any info unless he proved who he was by passing a security test first. After I questioned him quite a bit, he got annoyed and said I was wasting his time. So I told him to jog on.
