I wrote the previous comment and just looked into it on the BT site. Turns out this is a common con where scammers target folks who've recently had Openreach services. I read about a guy who got scammed out of £1,000 and nearly lost another grand, but thankfully his bank blocked that payment. These scammers are really aggressive and risky, so be very careful and don’t engage with them.

Got a phone call from some people saying they were with Openreach. It was a call centre for sure, noise in the background and all that. First I spoke to a bloke with an Asian accent, then a lady came on. She asked me to press a key on my keyboard but I felt fishy about it and told them I wasn’t comfortable before ending the call. Pretty sure it was some kind of scam.
