Got a call from someone saying I’d bought a phone on my account. They told me to press the Windows and R keys on my computer to confirm stuff. I told them it sounded dodgy and just ended the call. Then, the same caller rang me again from a local number asking why I’d cut off. I wasn’t having any of it and told them off.

Some bloke phoned me saying my computer had been used to spend £900 on Amazon stuff and that I'd have to pay up unless I followed his instructions. I told him he ought to be ashamed and just ended the call. Not five minutes later, he rang again from a nearby number, carrying on with the same rubbish, saying I didn't know anything about computers. Well, maybe he's got a point about computers, but I sure know a con when I hear one.

When I finally got through, it took them ages to respond properly because they were chatting with some people nearby in a language I didn’t recognise (not trying to be rude, just saying how it sounded). This made me suspicious that the call wasn’t actually from the UK, even though the number looked like it was local.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Amazon, saying there was a £400 order on hold. He wanted me to confirm if I’d made the purchase and told me to check my emails. When I said everything looked fine there, he insisted hackers are clever enough to block only Amazon messages. I asked for a phone number to ring back, and he gave me 0208 1331889, saying his name was Christopher Williams - but he definitely didn’t sound British! Then I requested a case number and he looked completely lost. I told him he was talking rubbish, he got quite annoyed, so I just ended the call.

someone called claiming to be alan from paypal, telling me someone had used my amazon account to order pricey camera equipment worth over £1800, but they were shipping it to an address that wasn’t mine. he said they were just double checking if i had made those purchases. he mentioned i should've got an email and said my account got hacked. then he asked me to get on my computer. when i asked how i could be sure he wasn’t just scamming me, he gave me a phone number supposedly for paypal’s dispute team, but turns out, that number was dodgy too and part of the scam.
