This number rang me but I didn’t pick up since I don’t know anyone in London at all. I decided to look it up afterwards and was shocked to see all the complaints about it. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now. It’s really frustrating how these scammers keep at it - don’t we have enough problems with covid already? They really should do something to put an end to calls like these.

Got a recorded call from a woman saying there’s a warrant for my arrest for some serious crime and that I should expect something to happen soon. She told me to press 1 to get more info. I didn’t press anything and just blocked the number.

Just like the rest ive had, a voicemail claiming to be from the tax office saying they will issue an arrest warrant if i don't get back to them. Oddly, it ends with "cheers and stay safe" which kinda ruins the mood. This sort of thing could really upset or scare someone who might not be able to tell its a scam.

I think these lot must’ve found some numbers from the gov.uk site since the only tax thing I’ve dealt with recently was the working from home tax relief (MoneySavingExpert explains it well if you want to check). I’ve dropped a line to gov.uk to warn them about this, hoping they can sort out where the leak’s coming from.

I’m well aware HMRC wouldn’t ring folks up about tax problems using an auto message like that. It's pretty nasty, really, as it’ll scare loads of people who haven’t got a clue about taxes, especially since most of us are still stuck indoors. Honestly, they deserve to be locked up and dragged around town like it’s some kind of medieval punishment. With the weather getting colder, it’d be a fitting reminder!
