I got a call from this number but chose not to pick up, seeing as I don't know anyone in London at all. After doing a bit of digging online, I stumbled upon numerous remarks about it. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now, but honestly, is there no way to put a stop to these scammers? With everything we’re already grappling with due to the pandemic, can't these nuisance calls be curbed somehow?

Got a recorded call from a woman saying there’s a warrant for my arrest for some serious crime and that I should expect something to happen soon. She told me to press 1 to get more info. I didn’t press anything and just blocked the number.

Just like the rest, I received a pre-recorded spiel from HMRC warning that failure to respond would lead to a warrant being issued for my arrest. It's rather peculiar that the message ends with 'goodbye and take care.' That definitely gives it away, don’t you think? It's quite alarming and could be utterly distressing for someone who might not be in a strong place emotionally.

I don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, especially if they’re not saved in my phone. So yeah, I just let them ring out.

Got a voicemail from an automated voice, all I caught was “legal action”. Really grateful I could find this site to check it out!

Definately some kind of robocall, cause when i let it go to voicemail it just played a message about legal threats. Total scam!

Got a voicemail, the only thing said was ‘legal action’ and nothing else.

Loads of these scammers ringing non stop nowadays - if it takes the police as long to get to me as that last call dragged on, I might as well start on War & Peace! Best thing? Just block and forget about 'em.

Got another call today, this one wasn’t silent tho. The guy said he was from some call blocking company, and he was gonna help block telemarketers and update my call blocking settings. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

I got straight to voicemail too, and the only thing they left was something about ‘legal action’.

Got a call today from someone pretending to be HMRC, said there was a warrant for my arrest over unpaid taxes. Total scam, the message was recorded and proper dodgy. Don't fall for it!

It went straight to voicemail, so I’m not really sure what it was about. All I caught was something about “legal action.” Definitely a number I’m blocking.

I received a voicemail claiming that I'm being investigated for tax evasion and that there's a warrant out for my arrest. First off, I can assure you I've not done anything wrong in terms of tax matters. Secondly, I find it quite hard to believe that an automated message would be the medium to inform me about such serious allegations. Quite concerning, if you ask me!

I received a call where a robotic voice claimed I was being flagged for tax evasion, which apparently led to the issuance of a warrant for my arrest. They instructed me to press 1 if I wished to halt any legal proceedings against me.

I've just received a call from the same number.

Received a rather alarming automated message today, stating that a warrant’s been issued and urging me to press 1 for further details before anything legal kicks off. Honestly, what a dreadful scam! It’d be quite unsettling if I didn’t know better, but there’s absolutely no need for concern on my part. Despicable individuals, really!

Absolutely, I can relate to that as well.

I received a recorded call informing me that there’s a warrant for my arrest due to some unspecified tax issue. Interestingly, my husband received a similar call from the same number just five minutes prior, so he decided not to answer when my turn came around. Just to add, we aren't even using the same mobile network provider!

I received an automated call about possible tax evasion, but honestly, if there’s any wrongdoing happening, it's certainly on their end!

I received a rather dubious automated message from a woman that trailed off with something about "or we shall pursue legal measures. Cheers." It's clearly a scam, even with that polite little sign-off!

I received an automated message claiming that I was under investigation for criminal behaviour related to tax evasion. I switched off the call immediately, recognising it for what it was - a clear scam. I can only imagine how distressing this must be for individuals who might take it seriously.

I’ve had a rather similar experience myself! Truly dreadful, to say the least.

I've just had another of those ridiculous messages regarding tax evasion and a supposed arrest warrant. What a load of nonsense! I had a similar call on our landline a few days back, which is in my husband's name, and I hardly ever use it. I'm baffled as to how they acquire this information!

I received a rather cryptic voice message hinting at some sort of legal threat. When I tried to ring back, it turned out the number was disconnected. Definitely blocking that one!

I’ve just received a similar call; opted not to answer, and unsurprisingly, they didn’t leave a voicemail. It's clearly some dodgy scam operation. I genuinely suspect they've managed to acquire numbers from the gov.uk site since it's the sole tax-related interaction I've had lately regarding my working-from-home expense claims (check out MoneySavingExpert for tips on this). I’ve reached out to gov.uk to alert them of this issue and suggest they patch up any vulnerabilities.

I noticed I had a couple of missed calls earlier, and shortly after, I got a rather garbled voicemail. It mentioned something about pressing one for a matter related to my name and warned me to press one again to steer clear of any potential legal trouble. Definitely sounds like spam to me!

Received a call earlier today that ended up going straight to voicemail. The message left was quite alarming, with threats of legal action - utterly baseless and rather intimidating. I don’t have a clue who this caller is, as they’ve chosen to remain anonymous - definitely not someone I'm familiar with. I'll be reporting this incident without delay.

I couldn't agree more, what a bore! It's such a pointless use of our limited time, isn’t it?

Totally agree! I recently caught wind of a supposed warrant related to tax evasion. What a load of rubbish!

Echoing what's been said before, I just received another automated voicemail that inexplicably mentioned "legal action, thank you" in that robotic tone! It's hard to believe that HMRC would reach out regarding tax matters in such a dispassionate way. It’s quite unnerving for those who might not grasp the intricacies of the tax system, especially during these times when many folks are confined at home! Perhaps we ought to consider putting these characters in a medieval-style stocks as a lesson-it's getting rather brisk outside, after all!

I received a call from an unfamiliar number today, and I let it go to voicemail since I didn’t recognise it. The voicemail message mentioned something about legal action and fraud. I've since blocked that number; it’s undoubtedly a scam!

I've just had a similar message come through. Since I only do part-time work, I’m not liable for taxes. This could pose a risk if it reaches someone who is more vulnerable.

I’m in the same boat as many others. Has anyone else here recently completed a form for a COVID test on the government website? I did, and it struck me as rather odd because, the very next day, I got a call alongside a message regarding a tax refund, not to mention a call from someone hawking life insurance, all in the span of 24 hours. Quite the coincidence, don’t you think?
6 years
I received a call like that this morning as well. It’s absolutely shocking that they would resort to instilling fear in others, particularly during such challenging times. It’s quite disgraceful, really.

Got calls back to back, like three times, yet no voicemail or anything. Number looked totally unfamiliar, so I just ignored it. Honestly, glad I didn’t pick up!

It’s a total rip off! They try to scare you with tax stuff and arrest threats. Best thing to do is simply not answer or just hang up straight away.
