Today, I got a call from this number claiming to be from BT. They said they needed to test our internet connection and told me to sit at the computer and open the internet. It just didn’t feel right, so I ended the call.

The call claimed it was an "energy survey" taking just a few minutes, with a tempting £200 voucher offer (!!). Right from the beginning, the chat felt really pushy, with the caller insisting "don’t worry madam, you won’t have to switch your supplier or anything." That didn’t fool me one bit! Then he started going on about my postcode, where I live, my energy provider and so on, but all the info he mentioned was completely wrong - that’s the trick, don’t give them the correct details! If you’re able to, hand the phone to someone else and refuse to continue talking, otherwise expect them to keep ringing back over and over.

They keep ringing me up, asking for someone who aint here. Even after I say this isn't the right number, they still try to get my info. Very annoying!

these people are scammers, its illegal what they are doing. ive told the phone company and they need to block all calls coming from this number. watch out, consider yourself warned!

I've had calls from this number a couple of times tonight. The first call, I picked up but they just ended it straight away. The second time, the connection was really bad and I couldn't hear anything, so I just ended the call. I dialled 1471 to check who it was, and the recorded message told me to hang up, so I did. Not sure what their deal is, but it feels suspicious. I'm planning to alert my phone company just in case it's some kind of scam.

At about 5.13 this evening, I got a call from this number. Some foreign guy was asking about what I think politically. I told him I wasn’t interested in discussing it. Without any proper goodbye, he just ended the call quite abruptly. Pretty rude if you ask me.

Never pick up if you get a random call from an unknown number!!! It’s usually just telemarketers or worse, scammers trying to trick you. Just let it ring out and hang up. Trust me, you don’t want to engage with these cold calls!

Not totally sure but I reckon they use the 1471 service to get you to ring back on an expensive number, which means they make cash off you. Or maybe they just wanna check if it’s a home phone, so they can ring you with sales calls later on.
