Looks like this number has popped back up after being quiet for about 4 years or at least nobody mentioned it for a while. I didn't let them get a word in and blocked straight away once I noticed all the reviews saying it was linked to all sorts of social engineering scams. Better to be safe than sorry.

Got a voicemail from this number claiming to be from HMRC or something, said I needed to sort something out or there’d be legal trouble. Sounded totally fake, like some automated voice, so I’m sure it’s just another scam.

Got a call about Amazon Prime, apparently about renewing some subscription. I don’t even have an Amazon Prime account. Just ignored it when they told me to press a number to get a callback. Suspicious if you ask me!

The problem is, the cops usually only find out after people have already lost a load of money. If you get scam calls, texts or emails, make sure to report them straight away to action fraud. Just Google 'action fraud', pick the 'police.uk' link, head to the 'reporting' page, and log the scam as a 'phishing attempt'. You don’t need to sign up or anything to report it.
