Some bloke said he was Officer Ron Smith from HMRC, asking for my details - name and address - and then demanded a payment for supposed tax evasion. He warned that if I didn’t pay up in the next half hour, the police would be called on me. Very dodgy if you ask me.

Was called but didn't pick up. Later got a voicemail from someone with an American accent, saying there’s some sort of legal action going on and I have a court date coming up. They mentioned something about my N.I. number getting suspended. They wanted me to ring back for assistance. Sounds like a total scam to me!

Someone called saying they were from HMRC, telling me I owed some tax and that this was my final chance to sort it before getting taken to court. They also said I'd lose my national insurance number if I didn’t pay up. Seemed dodgy to me.

020 7112 8734 - I received a call from this number that left a rather peculiar voicemail. The voice was so robotic it felt more like a machine than a human! They claimed there was some sort of illegal tax matter concerning my national insurance or something along those lines? It was a bit of a panic-inducing message, warning that if I didn't respond, I might find myself before a magistrate and my NI number could be revoked. I absolutely despise these kinds of calls! It's maddening! How on earth do they even obtain our contact details?! So frustrating!

I received a call from someone claiming to be affiliated with the HMRC Tax Department. He alleged that I had outstanding tax payments from between 1990 and 2005, amounting to £2496.52. He threatened that if I didn’t comply, I would be facing arrest in under two hours. He provided a CP number, a Warrant Number, and introduced himself as Ryan Bill, with an ID number of 110892, allegedly located at their London headquarters. His accent was quite distinctly Indian. As the conversation progressed, I made the quick decision to inform him I was heading to the nearest police station. At that point, he abruptly ended the call!

Got this automated call saying that if I didn’t pay up, I’d end up losing my national insurance number. It was just a voicemail, no option to call back or talk to a person. Really annoyed by these scams.

I just let the call go straight to voicemail. A posh guy left a message saying something about a court case and that I'd lose my National Insurance Number if I didn’t get back to them. What a load of nonsense! Didn’t bother returning the call and have since blocked the number.

Got a call from a bloke with a thick accent, claiming to work for HMRC. He said there was an arrest warrant out for me due to tax evasion and asked for stuff like my bank details and home address. When I wouldn’t give him any info, he got really aggressive and warned that the warrant was going to be enforced because I wasn’t cooperating. Definitely a scam, and I made sure to report the number to HMRC.

I received a call from the number 02071128734, and they left a rather alarming voicemail claiming that my National Insurance number was set to be revoked. At first, I was quite dubious about the whole thing, but once I did a quick online search, it became clear it was nothing but a scam.

This number left me a voicemail around 12:25 in the afternoon, claiming to be from the tax department and warning me of legal trouble if I didn’t get back to them. Obviously, I ignored it since it seemed like a total scam. Thankfully, I’m not easily fooled. It’s shocking that they’re allowed to make threats like that - it must be terrifying for some folks.

The number was unknown to me, so I just let it go to voicemail. When I checked later, there was this automated voice saying that my national insurance number was about to be cancelled, and there was some court case against me. It even gave me a case number and told me to ring 02071128734 if I wanted to stop the cancellation. Seems like a total scam to me. I never made any calls, and I wouldn’t advise anyone to phone back or give them any info.

Like with a few other calls recently, I didn’t pick up as I didn’t know the number and just let it ring through to voicemail. When I checked the message, part of it got cut off at the start, but it did say something about my “casi ignoring this call might mean my national insurance gets cancelled.” Obviously, it’s just a dodgy scam, but I can see how it’d freak out folks who aren’t so sure about these things.

Got a call from this number claiming to be an HMRC investigator saying I owed £1800 in back taxes and that if I didn’t pay right away, my case would go to court. I told them I had no idea what they were talking about and refused to pay. Then they threatened to send the police to my home within 7 minutes and just hung up! I rang back, told the bloke it was a scam and called him a proper wanker. He just laughed and ended the call!

Somebody called and said I gotta show up in front of a judge at the magistrates court and that my national insurance number would be suspended or something called ‘1d’. I gotta say, whoever this company was, they must be joking. Judges don’t handle cases like that at magistrates court, and you definitely can’t have your NI number suspended like that. Sounds like a proper load of nonsense to me.

Got a robotic call claiming to be HMRC saying they've got a case on me. I was suspicious straight away but since I'm actually sorting stuff with HMRC right now, I decided to ring back over wifi. Ended up speaking to a guy with a thick accent on a really rubbish connection - no usual HMRC automated prompts or anything like that. He started grilling me for personal info, and when I said no, he got really nasty, threatening me with arrest in 45 minutes before hanging up.

I received a call from this number earlier in the day, and I must say, it was rather unsettling. The voice on the line was clearly automated, yet it had that convincing quality that could lead one to believe it was authentic. What really raised my suspicions, however, was the fact that I discovered the call had commenced before I picked up, as it appeared in my voicemail. The number they listed began with 207 instead of the expected 0207, which struck me as odd. But the biggest red flag was the way they wrapped up the conversation; they concluded with a rather peculiar farewell, saying, "Goodbye and blessed day." Quite strange, if you ask me!

Received a similar call today, chose to skip answering it, but later gave the number a ring back. Spoke to an officer named Jim Harry, with a badge number of 110892, and then got through to his manager, Ryan Bill, who has a badge number of 1186. Does that ring any bells for you?
