Got another call today, some robotic American bloke saying it’s urgent I get in touch or my "lawyer" should ring 02070973827. Can't believe these muppets are still on this nonsense - surely next they’ll say I've got forty million quid sitting in some dodgy Nigerian account!

Got a call from these lot yesterday, with that same dodgy automated spiel everyone’s been talking about. Since I’m actually employed by HMRC, I rang them back and asked them to prove which part of HMRC they supposedly worked for, even asked for their staff ID as a security check. The guy on the phone turned aggressive straight away, but I didn’t hold back either and told him we’d already tracked their location. Honestly, they don’t seem too bright, but I worry they might frighten older or more vulnerable people. Proper idiots, they deserve to be locked up.

Honestly, if loads of folks report this number to ActionFraud on https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_phishing, maybe the cops will finally take some action. It’s about time someone did something, right?

Total scam! I've never been part of any tax dodging, not now, not ever. Clearly just con artists. Save yourself the trouble and don’t bother returning their call.

Just got a call from this number claiming to be from the tax office, said they were investigating something. It was an automated message and tried to rush me saying it was urgent. Honestly, it freaked me out a bit but I'm pretty sure it's one of those scams.

Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, told me I was under fraud investigation and I couldn’t just ignore their call. They said I had to ring back right away on 0207 0973827 or face serious trouble. The voice was an American bloke, clearly computer-generated, and they sounded really pushy and scary. Definitely felt like a total scam.

Just got a call from one of those robo voices saying I'm the main person they're looking at for some tax fraud thing. They wanted me or my lawyer to get in touch with them. I just ended the call straight away - pretty clear it's just a scam.

Absolutely a scam, totally fake!

Got a robo call supposedly from HMRC about tax fraud. They used weird American phrases like "contact your lawyer" which sounded off. The whole message was quite pushy about what would happen if I didn’t comply. Problem is, the number they called was my work phone, but it’s not even registered in my name or my employer’s! Our company actually contracts another firm to handle all the phones and software. Totally a scam, especially because anything genuine from HMRC would come through the post, no doubt.

Got a call from a guy in Whaligoe who said it was about tax fraud and we needed to talk. He asked for my name, I gave him part of it, then he wanted to know how old I was. Told him I wasn’t under investigation for any tax stuff and he just hung up straight away.

Got a recorded message about some urgent tax fraud problem, saying I had to ring back right away and not to ignore it. They sounded pretty pushy and a bit scary. Just ignored it though, if it was really serious, someone would’ve phoned me personally. Besides, my tax office isn't even based in London.

I got a call earlier on and they left a voicemail. When I called back, I told them I hadn’t done anything wrong and then they just hung up on me. They said they were closing my bank account, so I checked with my bank and turns out it was all a scam.

I got a call from a woman claiming I was the prime suspect in a tax fraud case. When I questioned her, she got pretty irate. I then asked her to verify my info, and that only made her even more defensive. This is definitely a scam, and it really needs to be cracked down on.

when i rang back after hearing an automated alert, someone picked up super quick - way faster than the usual bunch of menus you get stuck in. they asked me my name, but something felt off. i asked for their name and all they said was “officer” something, but honestly, it didn’t sound like any proper job title a british hmrc worker would use. the moment i said this sounded fishy, the line got cut. don’t share any personal info with these folk and make sure to warn any older family members or mates to watch out for this kind of thing.

This was totally a scam, no doubt about it. The bloke said he was from HMRC and told me I’m being investigated for some tax fraud. He had a really thick Indian accent and gave the name Kevin Jones. When I mentioned I know people in HMRC’s security team (which is true), he quickly ended the call. Proper dodgy.
