Got a robo call from someone claiming to be Claire Williams at HMRC, making all these threats but then oddly saying have a nice day. Total dodgy scam, and I reckon it's the same lot behind the MICROSOFT SCAM. Like others have said, HMRC only get in touch the way you usually deal with them - through letters or your online account. If you’re feeling up to it, try messing with them like I did with the MICROSOFT SCAM mob (haven't heard a peep since).

02070973508 called me, like all the others before. After they left a threatening voicemail I decided to ring back. Asked to talk to Claire Williams, but was told she was in a meeting. Then they mentioned some legal issues about my income tax going back to 2015. I knew straight away it was a scam. I said I’d wait for Claire to call me instead of handing over any cash. Still waiting now, and you can guess what I’ll say if she actually does ring!

My partner got the same call. Here in the UK, firms aren't permitted to use automated calls for cold calling; there must be a live person on the line. If companies break these regulations, they can face hefty penalties. So, if you get an automated call like that, it's pretty safe to say it’s probably a scam.

I received a phone call this morning at 8:20 AM on 14/12/18 from an unfamiliar number. I usually don't answer calls that early unless I recognize the caller. However, this time I let it go to voicemail. To my surprise, the voicemail was from a female American-sounding robot claiming to be an officer from HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs). The message threatened me with immediate legal action if I didn't pay my supposed debt or seek advice from my solicitor. Can you believe it? I found this very ironic considering that I actually work for HMRC and we never contact individuals by phone for such matters. The call abruptly ended and it became evident that these scammers were trying to deceive me. What cruel tactics they employ!

Got a call from this number earlier today and they left the exact same message mentioned below. I’ve already filed a report with HMRC. It’s definitely a scam, so don’t bother ringing them back.

Yesterday, on the 13th of December 2018, I received a phone call that turned out to be a hoax. The person on the line claimed to be from HMRC, but it was clear that they were not a genuine representative. They made several threats and their overall tone was quite malicious. I listened for about 10 seconds before promptly hanging up, knowing for sure it was a fake call. To prevent any future contact, I have blocked the number on my phone.

Dodgy call, definitely a scam.

Total scam, some American bloke claiming to be from HMRC and says my solicitor needs to get in touch. Complete rubbish, I ended the call straight away cos they’re definitely not HMRC, you’d get a proper letter first if legal stuff was coming your way.

Got a scam call, left a weird recorded message from someone called 'Claire' saying she was from HMRC. She kept banging on about some urgent problem and warned I'd 'face serious consequences' if neither me nor my lawyer got back to her. Proper suspicious.

Earlier today, on the 12th of December 2018, I received a phone call regarding unpaid council tax. The person on the call mentioned the name Claire Williams and made threatening statements about my potential arrest. They insisted that an immediate payment was necessary to prevent this arrest from taking place. This caused extreme distress for me as I suffer from severe anxiety. I expressed my concerns to the caller, and their response left me suspicious as they became silent and unsure of how to proceed. This immediately raised red flags for me, prompting me to search for information about the phone number online, which is how I found this site. While I was initially shaken by the call, I am now feeling a strong sense of anger towards whoever made the call.

Be cautious of deceptive individuals claiming to be from HMRC, who are tricking people into believing they owe unpaid taxes and threatening immediate arrest if payment is not made instantly. It is advisable not to answer their calls, or if you have already done so, simply hang up without pressing any keys. If they have left a disturbing voicemail supposedly from "Claire Williams," avoid contacting them back. Do not fret, as no legal repercussions await you; there are no arrest warrants involved. These individuals are attempting to intimidate and scare innocent individuals. To report such calls, you may send an email to [email protected].

Totally a scam, no doubt about it! When I asked the bloke where he was calling from, he just cut me off. Absolutely don’t share any details with them!

Got a call saying I’d done some kind of fraud, that I owed £19,000 and my passport would be taken away, and that the police were coming to arrest me. Really upsetting for someone like me who deals with bad anxiety.

Got a call about 6 hours ago and they left a recorded message. When I called back, a man with a foreign accent picked up and said I owed tax and needed to pay £3900 straight away to stop my bank accounts being locked, my house and stuff taken, and that I’d be arrested if I didn’t pay within an hour and five minutes from the warning. Even though I knew it was a scam, it shook me up quite a bit.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC. It was an Asian lady with pretty bad English, telling me I owed them £3.5k that I supposedly scammed. Didn’t ask any Data Protection stuff or anything. She just went off on how they could even freeze my driving license! Proper funny. I started chuckling and she just dropped the call. Then I rang back pretending to be a lawyer, and she hung up on me 😌

Got a automated call saying it was HMRC, rang them back only to be told it was a mix-up and to just ignore the whole thing.

Got a voicemail from 02070973508, some automated voice claiming to be from HMRC, saying I'd face legal trouble if I didn’t respond. I rang the number back, but not on my mobile they’d called from, and asked for details. They just wouldn't say anything and ended the call.

This number just rang me up as well, and I'm certain it's some kind of scam. HMRC never rings you about stuff like this - they always send letters through the post. So yeah, not falling for it!

I didn't pick up since the number seemed unfamiliar. Later on, I got a voicemail from a person speaking with an American accent claiming to be from HM Customs, warning me about "legal repercussions" if I didn't get back to them. Pretty sure it's just a scam.
