Instead, he launched into a rehearsed spiel, so I decided to let him ramble while I made myself a nice cup of tea.

I had a rather dubious encounter with someone who claimed to be from a tech support line, sporting an Indian accent. This individual urged me to check my event viewer and various other things, which immediately set off alarm bells in my mind. When I pressed him for more details, he got quite irate and insisted he was located right in the heart of London. I made it clear multiple times that I’m a computer engineer who manages large networks for a major corporation, yet he continued to recite his scripted lines without paying me any heed. It all felt extremely fishy to me.
