We received a text message urging us to call a number for a complimentary 3G upgrade for our phone. The catch is, we're not even with 3G, and the number given was clearly one of those premium-rate lines that charges extortionate fees!

I’ve just received the exact same message again! It’s got scam written all over it, especially since I’m on PAYG and not eligible for any upgrades or minutes to other networks. Plus, it seems rather improbable that Orange would be peddling phones from a competitor. Just so you know, this isn't the first time we've been bombarded with these identical texts.

Received the exact same message. We're with Orange and just signed our new contract a month back. Is it possible that this is linked to them? The name "OranUpgrade" certainly makes it seem like they have some connection to our provider, Orange.

We reached out to this number under the impression that it was a local call within the UK, completely unaware that it was, in fact, routed to India! They claimed it was billed as a local connection, yet the individuals on the other end couldn't tell us which marketing agency our details would be shared with. It turns out that the company answering the calls is known as Exclusive Offers. Quite the mix-up, if you ask me!

Received a rather bothersome message earlier today, and it’s only been exactly a week since we got our pay-as-you-go phone. Funny enough, this isn’t the first time; we got the same sort of text last year when we picked up a pay-as-you-go from Orange. Seems they’re the culprits. We distinctly recall ringing that number last year and were rather miffed to learn these folks didn’t have our address to send over our new device. We told them to clear off, quite frankly!

It appears that "OranUpgrade" was cleverly crafted to mislead folks into thinking it was connected to Orange when they received the text. The message itself was poorly written, which raised our suspicions right away-it felt like a scam to us. We’ve decided against calling that number; it's wiser to just delete the message and move on.

We've just received the exact same text message! Oddly enough, I'm not even a customer of Orange!

I too experienced something very similar! We're currently with Orange, and our contract isn’t up until April. However, I’ve heard we can opt for an upgrade as early as January if we fancy. Has anyone managed to get in touch with Orange regarding this?

I've just received the same message again, and it's got all the hallmarks of a scam. For starters, I’m on Pay As You Go, which means there's no chance I’d be eligible for any upgrades or to use minutes across networks. Plus, it's rather implausible for Orange to be peddling a phone from a competitor, isn't it? Just to add, this isn’t the first instance of us getting duplicate texts like this either!

I've just received the same thing here and we're on Orange too. Our contract runs until April, but we have the option to upgrade come January if we decide to. Has anyone reached out to Orange regarding this?

Absolutely, I've received that message. I'm planning to reach out to Orange regarding this matter.

Received a peculiar message earlier today... It said something like, "Dear customer, you're eligible for a complimentary 3G upgrade! Just call 02070844317 to receive a new 3G phone and enjoy enhanced X-Network minutes. Offer expires on 18th November." The odd thing is, I recently switched contracts and I've only had this number for about three weeks. Honestly, I haven't shared it widely-only with a few trusted mates! So, I can't quite fathom how these folks got hold of it. Quite the mystery, really!

We've just received the same message, and as soon as we checked our account online, it turns out our upgrade isn’t scheduled until June 2009! This has got to be a scam, hasn't it?

It appears that these folks won’t be refreshing their information until 2010! I’m also in touch with Orange.

We've encountered the same message. We're a bit wary, as we're on a pay-as-you-go plan and genuinely doubt that we're eligible for any sort of upgrades.

We've just flagged this as junk with Orange.

Two years back, around the same time, I fell victim to a bit of a swindle while I was on Orange prepaid. They were luring me with a tempting offer to switch to Three on a contract with a free phone. I ended up chatting with a company called World Networks based in London, but they vanished before delivering on the discounts they had promised. About a year later, another chap rang us up with a similar pitch, and when we inquired about the discounts we never received, she abruptly hung up. Now, I'm planning to have a word with both Orange and Three. I can’t help but wonder if these companies have some sort of arrangement going on.

We received the very same message last night. However, we've never made a call to them. We had already reached out to Orange about details regarding an upgrade for our phone and were told that we could go ahead with it in February if we wished. Definitely do not ring this number, as it reeks of a scam! I've just reached out to Orange earlier today to let them know that I'm not pleased about receiving such messages and I'm eager to see how quickly they respond to this issue!

I received a similar message myself and I'm on a pay-as-you-go plan. Please, steer clear of this number! It seems to be some questionable characters trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting folks.

We're also with Orange and have similar concerns. It appears to us that our numbers are being shared with others, or perhaps someone has figured out how to dig into their records! We plan to reach out to Orange to get to the bottom of this.

It appears we've encountered a rather curious scenario. These individuals seemed to be in search of specific information, notably phone numbers. However, as soon as we reached out, they professed not to have this information readily at hand. They claimed it was necessary to finalise some sort of offer. It does raise an eyebrow, doesn’t it? Almost feels like a marketing ruse designed to extract personal details. Quite plausible, I'd say!

Received a rather dodgy message earlier today. Apparently, I can claim a complimentary 3G upgrade by calling 02070844317, which supposedly involves getting a new 3G phone and being eligible for extra X-Network minutes. But here’s the kicker - it’s only valid until 18th November! The thing is, I only switched my contract recently, and I've had my number for about three weeks now. It's baffling how these folks managed to get hold of my number when I've only shared it with a handful of trusted mates!

I find myself in a similar predicament, as my upgrade isn't scheduled until 2010! I've decided to ring up Orange as well.

Received a message from this number suggesting that I should give them a call to claim a complimentary 3G phone along with an upgraded contract. They mentioned something about "OranUpgrade," but let me tell you, it wasn't from Orange at all. Seems very much like a scam to me!
