somebody rang claiming to be from carphone warehouse trying to sell me an iphone 12. i said i dont shop there and wasnt interested at all, then they just ended the call. pretty sure it was a scam.

i got a call from this number, and they said they were from hmrc. they told me i had a big problem and owed nearly 4000 in taxes. they warned that if i hung up, it would turn into a criminal issue and i'd get arrested. i just ended the call right away, then rang the police to report it. after that, i checked with hmrc and they confirmed i don’t owe any tax at all.

I got a call from this number which said they were from HMRC. The person claimed I had a huge tax debt of £3996 and warned me I’d be in big trouble, even arrested, if I hung up. I didn’t fall for it, ended the call, then got in touch with the police to report what happened. After that, I rang HMRC myself and they confirmed that I didn’t owe any tax at all.

got a call from a robot saying it was hmrc threatening legal trouble. i know hmrc normally only rings if you've already got a letter about owing money or if you've admitted tax is due, like in a self-assessment. even if the number looks like it's from hmrc, don't ring back that one. if you're unsure, get the legit hmrc number (it's 0300 something) from their website and call them directly to check. just be careful with these scams.
