They said they worked for an investment firm I supposedly use and wanted to pay me back money because my broker was being looked into for some dodgy dealings. They claimed the payout would be quite large, but first I had to send them money to verify my identity and information. After that, they promised they’d send the compensation along with the amount I initially paid. Sounds off to me.

He claimed he was from Cyprus, calling it the largest country on earth, which made me laugh. I mentioned Cyprus is actually quite small, and then he switched to saying it’s in Africa, the biggest continent. I could hardly stay serious and he started getting pretty flustered. Earlier, I had a chat with a ‘Lisa’ who was really friendly - I wouldn’t mind speaking to her again. :) Just watch out for that guy with an Indian accent, he’s the one who might start asking you for cash.

Got a call but didn’t pick up since it showed as spam. Just blocked the number! If you haven’t got one already, try out an app like t####er. As long as you’re connected to the internet on your phone, it can show you who’s ringing. Been able to dodge loads of spam calls thanks to it.

Got a call from this number (020 7066 4571) earlier today. At first, I thought it was one of those silent calls but then a foreign voice said hello. They tried to lure me into some online money investment scheme. I told them I wasn’t interested and asked them to take my number off their list. They kept saying I really needed to chat with one of their specialists! I repeated again, no thanks and remove me from your database as it’s against the Data Protection rules. Then they just hung up!!

Got a phone call from this number, they used my maiden name to ask for me. When I tried to find out who it was, they just hung up and haven’t called back. Feels like a scam to me. No voicemail given. Don’t waste time calling back because they just say their phone system is undergoing maintenance until 12th February, but offer an alternative number if it’s urgent. Quite odd really. The only reason I checked it out is because it had a Southend-on-Sea area code and I know people living there. Clearly, it’s number spoofing and likely linked to a scam. I’ve now blocked the number for calls and texts. Report already sent to Ofcom. I’d recommend reporting them too, the more complaints Ofcom receives, the more likely they are to take action against these scammers.

I just received a rather unsolicited call from someone who identified herself as Sarah Anderson, stating she represented a firm named Basic Financial Introduction Ltd. She claimed their office was on Dovertinson Way in London and mentioned they are registered in the UK. I told her even if it looked like a London number, she was probably calling from abroad because calling a TPS-registered number is illegal. Got a call from this number, answered and there was just silence with some background noise. Dont bother calling back, they might be trying to catch you out and could charge you a fortune for returning the call. Best to just block it.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Morgan & Co. They knew my name and tried to pitch this online trading course. Sounded pretty dodgy to me, probably just a scam!

Heard from a lady with an Asian accent saying I'd done some forms for bitcoin trading. Told her I hadn't and wasn't up for it. She started getting all argumentative before just cutting me off.

They actually called me by my first name. When I said I’m on the TPS list, they just went “TPS? What’s that then?” Best thing is just ignore and block the number straight away.

Got a call earlier today from an unknown number but chose not to pick up. It rang through to my voicemail, yet there was no message left, only a brief burst of static noise lasting a few seconds. After seeing what others have said, I’m going to add it to my block list now.

This number keeps ringing me twice daily, both on my home phone and mobile. It’s incredibly irritating! It sounds like it’s coming from some overseas call centre, but no one ever says a word.

Hey, got a ring from this number on 24/01/18. The lady on the other end barely spoke English and sounded like she was from India. When I asked what BFI stood for, what she was trying to sell, and how she even got my number, she just cut me off. Definitely smells like a scam to me! Though to be honest, they don't seem very professional. My guess? Their surname’s probably Asif!!!!!
