These scammers always call me from a 020 7060 number claiming to be Digital Mail London, but they’re actually based in South Africa, like other dodgy 020 7060 calls I’ve had before. They try to trick you into thinking they’re local, but it’s all fake. Loads of people have said the same here, still getting annoying calls from these lot pretending to be banks offering refunds or telling you you’ve won something big with the UK Lottery. Blocking them doesn’t help because they just ring back from different 020 7060 or 3000 Digital Mail numbers. Honestly, the best thing to do is ring Digital Mail directly on 020 7060 2000 to sort it out, otherwise these nuisance calls just keep coming from abroad.

Got a call from some bloke saying he had details about a car accident I supposedly made a claim for. No exact dates or times were mentioned. I haven't made a claim in over 20 years, and that one was just with my own insurance after I knocked into a bollard while parking! I told him straight, in no uncertain terms, to get lost and then ended the call. What really winds me up is that my number’s unlisted, so it looks like someone’s passing it around or selling it.

Just a bit different from what others said, but I got a call saying I supposedly owed £2500.75 to my daughter, very specific amount, for something that supposedly happened 2 or 3 years ago, though when I asked it became “up to 4 years” - pretty vague really! When I pressed them for the company name, they said Motor Investigations. Thing is, I haven’t used my phone for anything to do with my daughter in over a decade, so where they got these details from is beyond me. I’m definitely reporting them to Ofcom.

What's worked for me to handle these annoying calls is just keeping the answerphone switched on my landline. When I get a ring from one of those bothersome numbers, I don’t just pick up right away. Usually, if it really is something urgent, the person will drop a message. The pesky telemarketers or spammers never do. Honestly, if more folks did this, those irritating callers would be fed up way sooner than we are.

Got a call outta the blue from this number, some woman with a South African accent claiming to be from First Call. She was going on about making sure everything’s up to scratch with Financial Services rules. Then she started asking about my credit cards and loans, trying to pitch some free debt consolidation thing.

They called out my name when I answered, but as soon as I asked who was calling, the line went dead.

First, they claimed there was some kind of money set aside for me. When I asked who was calling and how they got my number, the lad got quite pushy, saying he was just trying to assist me. I cut him off, telling him that if he wanted to help, he should check the law first - my number’s actually signed up with the TPS. That made him hang up straight away. Honestly, I’m sick of these supposed helpers ringing all the time. My blacklist of blocked numbers keeps growing and growing.
