This morning at about 11:05, I noticed the number 02064287714 ringing on my landline again. It’s happened quite a few times before, but whenever I answer, there’s just silence and no one talks. After a little while, I just hang up since there’s nothing going on.

Got a call at 11:40 on the 2nd of August 2017, a woman saying she was with a security company. I asked her straight up if this was a scam or something dodgy. She seemed stuck, didn’t really reply. After a bit of awkward quiet, I told her if she wasn’t going to answer, I’d just hang up - and that’s exactly what I did.

I went ahead and ended the call.

Somebody rang saying they were from BT. When I asked their location, they said London but couldn’t specify which area. Then they told me they needed to disconnect my internet. Watch out for this one!

Got a call from a bloke saying he was from BT internet security, warning me my connection was at risk. Coincidentally, BT were actually doing some work near my house. I suggested he chat to the actual BT crew outside, but he just started getting rude. Ended up blocking his number straight away.

A bloke called saying he was with my internet company. When I asked him which one, he told me it was BT. I told him to leave BT out of it and just carried on chatting with him.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from BT, saying my computer might have an issue. They tried to get me to let them access it to fix things. I just told them to buzz off. Does anyone know how long these dodgy numbers need to be reported before something's done? Should I bother calling the police or just keep blocking them?

This morning I got a phone call from these lot, but thankfully I'd heard about their scam before. They want you to find some kinda code on your computer and then they claim they’ll verify it to prove they’re legit. The thing is, they never share the full code with you. After that, they try to get you to open a remote access tool so they can take control of your machine. Don’t fall for it, they’ll end up ripping you off by charging you to fix an issue that they basically create once inside your PC.

I mentioned that we’re signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, but they just brushed it off saying it wasn’t about selling anything! I ended the call, but they rang back straight away and asked loudly ‘why did you just hang up on me?’ I then put the phone down once more.

Got a call from a lady who gave her name as Ollie, but she didn’t seem to have a clue about my name - something BT would obviously know. She started saying she needed to close down my computer, so I just ended the call. These calls are popping up all the time now. They’d be quite amusing if they didn’t keep interrupting me when I’m trying to focus on stuff that matters. Fingers crossed they get nabbed soon!

I let that call ring out without picking up, and they didn’t bother to leave any sort of voicemail.

A bloke called from BT tech support, said his name was James Logan, though his English was all over the place. He told me there was a virus on my PC and tried to scare me. I just messaged with him for a bit, acting like I was worried. Honestly, can't believe these scammers still do this.

Got a call from a lady claiming to be from a tech support company, saying my computer was infected with a virus. She asked me to turn it on, and I pretended for a bit. Then I said there was a weird message on the screen and asked if she wanted to know what it said. When she said yes, I told her it read "Bugger off, you scammer!" There was complete quiet on the other end, so I just said "Cheers for the call" and hung up. Honestly, scammers like this deserve nothing but disdain. Hopefully, we can get rid of them for good soon.

This number rang me earlier today. I answered, but there was nothing on the other end for a few moments. Then out of nowhere someone said "Good-bye" and just ended the call! Weird.

They've moved on to pushing double glazing now, even though I've signed up to the TPS. Proper annoying! I've just reported them through the ICO website here: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/nuisance-calls-and-messages/report-telesales-calls/

Got a ring from someone saying they were from the “Windows Department”. Could hear loads of noise like a busy call centre in the back. They told me I’d got some dodgy software on my computer that had to be taken off right away. When I asked which computer was affected, he just asked how many I owned. I said loads, like hundreds, and then he just cut the call. Definitely just a trick to get into your computer and cause trouble.

This number has rung me quite a few times now. Each time, the caller claims to be from my internet provider. I explain calmly that my computer is fine, but they then threaten to cut off my internet if I don’t follow their instructions. I politely tell them to go ahead and disconnect me. They immediately say they can fix it without having to turn my service off. I ask to speak to a supervisor. After a pause, a man comes on the line insisting I need to comply. I ask who he actually works for, and this time he says "Virgin". I tell him I’ve already checked with Virgin, and they never call customers first - it’s always the other way round if there's an issue. The caller promptly hangs up after that.

Beware of these computer maintenance fraudsters! They have a knack for using your actual name, which can be quite unnerving. Hang up right away! Never grant them remote access to your computer. And for goodness' sake, keep your financial information to yourself - no card details or bank info! Stay safe!

Sounds like a total rip-off to me.

I got a call from someone claiming there was an issue with my computer and that they were from my internet company. When I asked who exactly, they said BT. But I’m actually with Virgin Media. A similar scam call happened before, and the person asked to remotely access my PC to supposedly fix the problem. I didn’t fall for it and just ended the call. I didn’t bother ringing back to check because it might’ve been a trick from overseas and could have ended up costing me. Just a heads up - these types of calls usually try to get you to give your card details for “fees,” and real money can go missing if you’re not careful.

This lady called saying something about fixing my computer. She wanted me to sign onto my computer or something. I pretended like I was doing it to see what she'd say next. When I wouldn't give her any info, she got all cheeky and said she could just hack into my machine anyway. I told her I don't actually have a computer and then she just went and called me a liar! Quite a strange phonecall.
