This morning at about 11:05, I noticed the number 02064287714 ringing on my landline again. It’s happened quite a few times before, but whenever I answer, there’s just silence and no one talks. After a little while, I just hang up since there’s nothing going on.

Got a call at 11:40 on the 2nd of August 2017, a woman saying she was with a security company. I asked her straight up if this was a scam or something dodgy. She seemed stuck, didn’t really reply. After a bit of awkward quiet, I told her if she wasn’t going to answer, I’d just hang up - and that’s exactly what I did.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT. When I inquired about their location, they mentioned London. I probed further, asking which specific area, but they were completely clueless. They were trying to persuade me about disconnecting my internet service. Just a heads up, folks!

Got a call from a bloke saying he was from BT internet security, warning me my connection was at risk. Coincidentally, BT were actually doing some work near my house. I suggested he chat to the actual BT crew outside, but he just started getting rude. Ended up blocking his number straight away.

A bloke called saying he was with my internet company. When I asked him which one, he told me it was BT. I told him to leave BT out of it and just carried on chatting with him.

They claimed to be from BT and mentioned they'd spotted a possible issue with my computer. They wanted to get into my system to fix it. I promptly told them to shove off! I’m curious, how long does it take for a number like this to get flagged before something is done? Is it something the police need to handle?

I received a call from these individuals earlier today, but thankfully, I was already aware of the ruse. They prompt you to look for a code on your computer, which they then validate, claiming it’s to verify their identity. However, they conveniently withhold parts of the code. After that, they'll guide you to a remote access tool that allows them entry to your machine. It’s imperative you steer clear of this! They'll attempt to swindle you by charging for repairs on a non-existent issue that only arises once they’re inside your system.

I mentioned that we’re signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, but they just brushed it off saying it wasn’t about selling anything! I ended the call, but they rang back straight away and asked loudly ‘why did you just hang up on me?’ I then put the phone down once more.

Got a call from a lady who gave her name as Ollie, but she didn’t seem to have a clue about my name - something BT would obviously know. She started saying she needed to close down my computer, so I just ended the call. These calls are popping up all the time now. They’d be quite amusing if they didn’t keep interrupting me when I’m trying to focus on stuff that matters. Fingers crossed they get nabbed soon!

I let that call ring out without picking up, and they didn’t bother to leave any sort of voicemail.

A bloke called from BT tech support, said his name was James Logan, though his English was all over the place. He told me there was a virus on my PC and tried to scare me. I just messaged with him for a bit, acting like I was worried. Honestly, can't believe these scammers still do this.

Got a call from a lady claiming to be from a tech support company, saying my computer was infected with a virus. She asked me to turn it on, and I pretended for a bit. Then I said there was a weird message on the screen and asked if she wanted to know what it said. When she said yes, I told her it read "Bugger off, you scammer!" There was complete quiet on the other end, so I just said "Cheers for the call" and hung up. Honestly, scammers like this deserve nothing but disdain. Hopefully, we can get rid of them for good soon.

I received a call from this number earlier today. As soon as I answered, there was absolute silence for a few moments, and then, out of the blue, a voice simply said “Goodbye” before the call abruptly ended! Quite odd, if you ask me!

Got a ring from someone saying they were from the “Windows Department”. Could hear loads of noise like a busy call centre in the back. They told me I’d got some dodgy software on my computer that had to be taken off right away. When I asked which computer was affected, he just asked how many I owned. I said loads, like hundreds, and then he just cut the call. Definitely just a trick to get into your computer and cause trouble.

I've received numerous calls from this particular number, each time claiming to represent my internet service provider. I consistently inform them that my computer is functioning perfectly well, to which they ominously assert they'll disconnect my internet if I don't comply with their demands. Quite calmly, I invite them to proceed with the disconnection, and then they switch gears, saying they can resolve things without cutting off my service. I request to speak to their supervisor and after a moment of hesitation, a gentleman comes on the line insisting that I must follow his instructions. I courteously inquire as to which company he’s associated with, and he eventually divulges "Virgin." I then explain that I’ve already been in contact with Virgin and can assure him they seldom, if ever, initiate calls to customers-it's invariably up to us to reach out if we encounter an issue. At that point, the caller hangs up abruptly.

Beware of these computer maintenance fraudsters! They have a knack for using your actual name, which can be quite unnerving. Hang up right away! Never grant them remote access to your computer. And for goodness' sake, keep your financial information to yourself - no card details or bank info! Stay safe!

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming I had issues with my computer, asserting that they were my service provider. When I inquired about their identity, they mentioned being from BT. The thing is, I'm a customer of Virgin Media. This reminded me of a previous scam where the caller tried to convince me to let them access my computer to 'identify the problem.' I politely ended that call as well. I didn’t call back, mainly out of concern that it might have been a call routed from abroad, which could result in hefty charges. So, I decided to just let it go. Just a heads-up! It's worth noting that these sorts of conversations often veer into territory where they attempt to solicit your credit card information for 'service fees', leading to actual transfers of money. Stay vigilant!

This lady called saying something about fixing my computer. She wanted me to sign onto my computer or something. I pretended like I was doing it to see what she'd say next. When I wouldn't give her any info, she got all cheeky and said she could just hack into my machine anyway. I told her I don't actually have a computer and then she just went and called me a liar! Quite a strange phonecall.
