Some woman claimed she was from BT openreach. I played dumb and told her I don’t even own a computer. She got really mad and called me a liar before telling me to f.off.

Got a call earlier from some bloke claiming he was with BT or Openreach something about broadband problems and hackers. He wanted me to let him get into my computer to fix it. The number was some foreign one and the guy sounded proper dodgy, calling himself John Wilson or something like that. Bit of a joke.

So far I’ve gotten four calls, one yesterday from the number above and then three more today from other numbers. It’s always a woman or men with Asian accents claiming they’re from B.T. saying there’s an issue with my internet. I told them I had no problems and asked them to stop calling. If they try again, I’ll just tell them I’m going to contact the police.

Got two calls which I reckon came from the same call centre. The second number was 02076441133. They just stayed quiet and then abruptly ended the call.

Some woman with an Asian accent called saying she was from BT Openreach and told me there was something wrong with my computer. I told her I dont even own a computer, and then she just started calling me a liar. I ended up just hanging up on her.

I got a ring from someone called Derrick claiming he was from BT Openreach. He tried saying my PC was about to crash and mentioned that they’d been watching our internet lines for weeks, noticing loads of hacking programmes downloaded. I cut him off quick, told him my other half works in IT and we’ve got all the security covered, then ended the call. Good thing there’s places like this website to share these dodgy calls - maybe it’ll warn others who aren’t as clued up.

If you got time and you’re stuck at home, I’d say just humour these callers a bit. Act like you’re interested and follow what they say for a while, or at least fake it. Waste a handful of their time back at them. But the moment they start asking for your card info to sell you that “fantastic” product, don’t hold back - just tell them straight up, “You’re talking rubbish.” It’s funny how much it winds them up, especially since they’re the ones pestering me!

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, sounded like he was calling from a really noisy call centre. He claimed to be from BT Openreach and mentioned there were issues with my phone line messing up my internet. I told him I haven’t been at this house for the past three weeks, and he just hung up straight away. I’m signed up with the TPS and my number isn’t in any directory. I checked the number online afterwards and, as I thought, it’s a scam.

Over the past couple days, this number 02051487859 has rung me up four times. First three calls were silent, no one on the other end. When they rang a fourth time, a woman with an Asian accent answered, said she was from BT and told me I was owed a big tax rebate. She then started saying I needed to open my computer to get the refund. As soon as I asked some questions, she just cut the call off. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

02051487859 is a total scam, I’m sure someone’s selling these phone numbers over at BT’s call centre in India. Also, 00167649091 is another dodgy one tied to it. Got to say, they picked the wrong person this time - I’ve got a computing degree and over 26 years in the tech game, so I’m not falling for it.

Received a call from a lady with an Asian accent saying she was from BT, but she couldn’t tell me my name or account details. Once I confirmed my computer was switched on, they passed me onto another person who wanted me to type some commands into the run box. I wasn’t having any of it and asked repeatedly for my name or BT account info, then they just ended the call on me.

So, I got a call from an Asian lady saying there was an issue with my computer. I asked her how she even knew that, which seemed odd. Then she handed me over to a bloke who I asked the same thing. After a bit of probing, he finally came clean that it was a scam! Honestly, never had anyone be that upfront with me before.

In just a few hours today, I got two calls from people speaking with an Asian accent. They claimed there was a virus on my PC. The first one said I had already reported the issue, which was rubbish since I never had any problems. Then the second caller insisted I switch on my computer so she could help fix it. She asked if I was by my computer, and I joked back asking which one. She then asked how many I had, so I said loads. When she wanted to talk to whoever owned them and I told her they weren’t around, she just ended the call. Totally obvious scam, but I bet a lot of less cautious folks will fall for it.
