On the 7th of November 2016, my home phone rang with a man speaking with an Asian accent, sounding quite like what’s been described here. I didn’t answer his questions and he just ended the call. What really gets me is I’ve complained to BT about this twice already and no reply from them at all! It’s obviously a London number, so you’d think they’d be able to track it down and sort these dodgy callers out.

Someone called me claiming to be from BT, said their name was Sam, and told me there was an issue with my router. They wanted me to turn on my computer to fix it. I was pretty wary straight away, so I asked to speak to Sam’s manager and kept them talking, trying to get more details. After a bit, they gave up and just ended the call. It was a bit frustrating, but I can see how older people might fall for it and get tricked.

I got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming there was an issue with my BT router. I found it fishy since my provider is EE, so I played along for a bit. He asked me to hit the Windows key plus 'R' together and tell him what showed up. Thing is, I use Linux on my PC, so nothing popped up. He got pretty frustrated and kept saying I should switch to Windows. That’s when I told him I wasn’t going to do that and ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, loads of noise in the background. I kept saying hello but he just muttered something I couldn't understand and then ended the call. Now the same number keeps ringing me, really annoying.

I got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from BT, saying there were errors coming from our router. Thing is, our router's brand new and working perfectly, so I just let him chat to himself until he gave up and ended the call.

Got a call from some bloke who sounded like he was in a busy call centre abroad, with loads of noise in the back. He keep saying "Hello" over and over, so eventually I asked "What do you want?" Then he goes and says, "I want you." I was like, "No way, you weirdo," and quickly slammed the phone down. Seriously creepy.

Got a call from a bloke with a strange accent, could hear loads of noise like a call centre going on behind him. He just kept saying “Hello” over and over. I finally asked, “What’s this all about?” and he goes, “I want you.” I lost it, shouted something rude and slammed the phone down.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying he was “Steve” from BT support. He told me my computer wasn't working with my router or something like that. When I asked if he was really from BT, he just cut the phone straight away. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.

Today I got a call saying my internet router was having issues. I asked the caller for their ID, and they gave me a number that didn’t seem right. Then I requested my access number, but they couldn’t provide it and handed me over to someone claiming to be a supervisor. They wanted me to click a link to get into my computer. Still uneasy, I asked for proper identification again. After a while, the first guy got annoyed and transferred me to someone else. I told them I was concerned about my PC's security, and they just ended the call. Later, I looked up the phone number and came across this site. I wonder if lots of others have been tricked by these sorts of scams.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying they were from BT. I asked for my account details and my name to make sure, but he couldn’t provide them. I told him nicely I wouldn’t continue the call unless he could give me that info. Then I decided to ring the number back myself, and as I expected, BT didn’t recognise it at all!

This number popped up on my caller ID earlier and someone on the line claimed to be from BT - sounded like they were calling from overseas. They said they’d detected some kind of phishing or scam activity coming from my modem and asked me to press a few keys to fix the issue.

I didn’t fall for it and told them I’d end the call and ring BT directly instead.

When I phoned BT, they confirmed they know this number is linked to scams and have blocked it from contacting me again.

I just got a call like that too. When I told the bloke I didn’t think he was really from BT, he claimed he was since he supposedly had my ‘security access number’. I said I wasn’t buying it and hung up straight away. After that, I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

Might not be BT Broadband, but soon they might start blacklisting so-called genuine phone numbers, which could actually be useful...

Working for BT, I immediately knew the call wasn’t from them when they started. I asked if they were selling double glazing, and after a bit, the bloke told me to just switch off my damn computer. When I refused, he called me a proper rude name and slammed the phone down. Charming individuals, honestly....

Got a call from this number around 10 in the morning, a woman with a foreign accent claiming to be from BT Broadband. She wanted to know if my computer was on and if I was close to it. It sounded a lot like one of those Microsoft tech support scams. They must have got my number by hacking or something. When I asked them to call me back, the line just went dead straight away... says it all really.
