On the 7th of November 2016, my home phone rang with a man speaking with an Asian accent, sounding quite like what’s been described here. I didn’t answer his questions and he just ended the call. What really gets me is I’ve complained to BT about this twice already and no reply from them at all! It’s obviously a London number, so you’d think they’d be able to track it down and sort these dodgy callers out.

I had a rather dodgy call earlier on from a chap named Sam, claiming to be from BT. He mentioned there was some kind of issue with my router and insisted on me powering up my computer to sort it out. Right away, my instincts kicked in, and I requested to be put through to his supervisor. I kept him chatting, trying to pry more details from him, but it didn’t take long for them to figure out I wasn’t buying it. They eventually just cut the line. It was a bit irritating, but one can only imagine how unsettling this type of call might be for someone older who could easily fall for such a ruse!

I received a call from an individual who sounded like they were from India, claiming that there was an issue with my BT broadband router. Given that I am an EE customer, I became quite wary of the whole situation. To buy some time, I decided to engage him in conversation for a bit. He instructed me to press the Windows key along with the "R" key and asked what I could see on my screen. The thing is, I use Linux, so absolutely nothing happened! His irritation became quite apparent when he insisted that I switch to Windows to carry out his instructions. At that point, I firmly told him that I wouldn’t and decided to end the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, loads of noise in the background. I kept saying hello but he just muttered something I couldn't understand and then ended the call. Now the same number keeps ringing me, really annoying.

I had a rather suspicious call today from a chap with an accent that didn’t quite sit right. He claimed to be from BT, saying he’d picked up some error signals from our router. Funny thing is, our router is practically brand new and functioning perfectly. We decided to let him ramble on until he eventually realised we weren’t biting and ended the call himself.

I received a call from someone who had a distinctly foreign accent, and there was quite a bit of background noise usually associated with call centres. He kept repeating "Hello," which prompted me to ask, "What do you want?" To my utter surprise, his response was, "I want you." At that moment, I couldn't help but yell, "Get lost, you creep!" before abruptly ending the call. It was rather unsettling, to say the least!

Got a call from a bloke with a strange accent, could hear loads of noise like a call centre going on behind him. He just kept saying “Hello” over and over. I finally asked, “What’s this all about?” and he goes, “I want you.” I lost it, shouted something rude and slammed the phone down.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying he was “Steve” from BT support. He told me my computer wasn't working with my router or something like that. When I asked if he was really from BT, he just cut the phone straight away. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.

I received a rather dubious call earlier today, claiming that there was an issue with my router. When I requested their identification number, they provided one, yet I remained sceptical. I then inquired about my access number, which they failed to supply, leading them to transfer me to someone they claimed was a 'supervisor.' They attempted to persuade me to click on a link for them to access my computer. Once again, I pressed them for proof of their legitimacy. After some back and forth, the initial caller grew irate and handed me off to yet another person. I expressed my concerns regarding the safety of my computer, and to my disbelief, they simply hung up. Out of curiosity, I looked up the number and stumbled upon this site. I can’t help but wonder if anyone else has unfortunately fallen prey to such scams.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying they were from BT. I asked for my account details and my name to make sure, but he couldn’t provide them. I told him nicely I wouldn’t continue the call unless he could give me that info. Then I decided to ring the number back myself, and as I expected, BT didn’t recognise it at all!

I had a call from this number pop up on my caller ID. The individual on the line claimed to be associated with BT, although their accent suggested it stemmed from a call centre overseas. They mentioned that they had detected some fraudulent activity linked to my modem earlier that day and urged me to press certain keys on my phone to rectify the issue.

Sensing something wasn’t quite right, I instinctively guessed it was a scam and told them I’d be disconnecting the call to reach out to BT directly.

Upon speaking with BT, they confirmed they were already aware of this number being fraudulent and had taken measures to ensure it wouldn’t be able to contact me again.

It seems that it might not be BT Broadband after all. There’s talk of a potential blacklisting procedure on the horizon for so-called ‘genuine’ phone numbers. This could very well prove advantageous...

I reached out to them about possibly purchasing double glazing, given my affiliation with BT, I was fairly certain it wasn’t anything to do with the company. After a bit of back and forth, he told me to just turn on my bloody computer. When I declined, he quickly resorted to calling me a right tosser and hung up. Charming individuals, aren’t they?

I received a call today around 10:00 in the morning from someone claiming to be with BT Broadband. The caller, a woman with a thick accent, asked if I was near my computer and whether it was switched on. The whole conversation had a familiar ring to it, reminiscent of those dreaded Microsoft Tech Support scams. It felt as though they had somehow fished my number from my device. Then, she asked if I could ring them back, but before I could respond, the line cut off abruptly. Quite suspicious, if you ask me...
