I got a call from someone speaking with an Indian accent who said they were calling from O2. They claimed that because I’m an O2 customer, I could get a big discount on my next bill. When I asked how much the discount was, they said “75%”, which immediately sounded a bit dodgy. Then they asked how much I was currently paying, and that’s when I knew for sure it was a scam. I said, “Aren’t you meant to have that info already?” After a bit of unclear mumbling, the person hung up quite fast.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Virgin/O2. But I haven’t had a contract with O2 for ages, so I knew it was dodgy. The person got really pushy and rude. Definitely don’t answer if you get a call like this - I blocked the number straight away.

It's terrible how these scammers, both men and women, use the phone contract trick, dragging down not just their own city's name but the whole country's reputation, all for a fast buck.

I reckon these folks from India haven't really got a clue about the proper charges for mobile calls, they seem to just make it up as they go along. Honestly, next thing you know, they’ll be landing themselves in jail for this.

Echoing what others have said, lunchtime is definitely the prime time for scammers who mumble in nearly impossible-to-understand English.

This guy claimed he was from O2, but when I told him he wasn’t, he just swore at me and hung up! Proper rude!

There was this caller with an Indian accent saying they were from Virgin Media and 02. I told my mum to just end the call, which she did even though she wasn’t keen. After that, they kept ringing her back like four more times. Problem is, my mum isn’t even the one on the account.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2. They offered me a 30% discount and said they’d post out a new SIM card. Asked me for my email and a code they supposedly sent via text. Sounded dodgy to me, total scam.

Somebody called claiming Sky had joined up with EE and wanted my email address, then they sent over a security code from EE to reset my password. They told me to click the link so they could sort out a new SIM card for me. I didn’t go for it because the email mentioned account recovery too, which seemed a bit dodgy. After that, the call just cut off on me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be EE, saying they needed to switch my SIM due to some local network problems (which is true). But when I asked them for my name, they just blanked. So I ended the call and phoned the real EE to make sure I hadn’t just cut off the genuine team, and they told me it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with O2, definitely a scammer.

Got a call after 7pm from someone saying they were from EE, trying to get me to upgrade my SIM to work with 5G. I knew straight away it was a dodgy call because the account isn’t even in my name, and they never asked for any details to confirm that. Plus, I don’t even own a 5G phone, which they’d surely know if they really were from EE. My partner came in and asked who was calling, I said it was a spammy sales call, and he just chuckled and asked if I was enjoying it. I told him yeah, then they just cut me off! I’ve made sure to report the number.

Don’t trust these people, they’re just trying to scam you by acting like they’re from EE and want to renew your contract. Just hang up straight away and block the number. If you’ve already told them any info, get in touch with your bank right away and change your account details to be safe.

I’ve had enough of these annoying calls. I told the person on the phone that they should get a real job instead of scamming folks, said it was just not right. They kept insisting they were really from EE, like seriously? 😂 I just hung up, blocked the number, and reported it on Truecaller. The phone’s actually in my partner’s name, not mine, but every time I say that they still won’t stop pestering me to give them the account holder’s info - surely they have that recorded somewhere? Proper fed up with these constant calls now.
